Guest guest
As someone who has only been practicing KY for a few months. I have found this list so valuable as I see I am experiencing the same range of emotions as others. From increasingy moments of joy and bliss, to anger from situations coming up from the past for me to deal and settle in my mind. The best thing has been the feeling of my heart opening up more to joy. But this has also made me feel very sad at times in watching the news or listening to a freind who is having troubles. I want to be empathetic and help others as much as I can. But I at times feel my worn as others hurt seems to become mine. And I can't release it till much later. I am wondering about the most effective meditations or sets that can help to keep myself grounded or make myself more resilient or just to bounce back when I am feeling this way so I can go on with my day. Guest guest
Sat Nam Deb: Developing your aura will make you less vulnerable to taking on the negative emotions of others. There are numerous techniques for strengthening the aura, such as everyone's favorite, the cold shower. Gururattan's book "Transitions to a Heart-Centered World" has a section ("Electromagnetic Field") devoted to kriyas for this purpose. All love surround you, Sadhant
Guest guest
Dear Deby, What you feel is called "Compassion", the wish for others to be free of their suffering. This is the sign of an open heart center. But at the same time you are attached to your own emotions. When you feel overwhelmed by sadness, try a few minutes of right nostril breathing. But, if you actually want to keep yourself "grounded", the best practice is awareness. As the Dalai Lama says: "When you are aware of your pain and suffering, it helps you develop your capacity for empathy, the capacity that allows you to relate to other people's feelings and suffering. This enhances your capacity for compassion towards others." You have the chance to practice awareness in all your daily activities. Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of awareness. When you do your yoga sets be mindful and aware of your physical sensations as well as your thoughts. When a strong emotion arises, watch it, but don't follow it. Notice the thoughts and let them go. When doing mantra meditation, do the same. When you finish your meditation, don't get up inmediately. Stay a few minutes there sitting. Do nothing. Just be aware of everything. Your body, your thoughts, the outside sounds, smells, open your eyes if you like, be completely open. In your daily life, while you drive, at work, do everything with awareness. "Persue not the outer entanglements, duell not in the inner void; Be serene in the oneness of things, and erroneous views vanish by themselves." (from the Hsin Hsin Ming) This is the actual meditation. The rest (postures, chanting, mudras, etc.) is only preparation for this state of complete awareness. This is when you have the best opportunity to see your true identity, Sat Nam or Buddha Nature. Be completely here, now. The great way is not difficult For those who have no preferences. When clinging and hating are both absent, Everything is clear and undisguised. Make the slightest distinction however, And heaven and earth are set infinitely apart. -Seng T'sang, excerpt from Hsing Hsing Ming Sat Nam Gilberto Sat Nam -------------------------- eGroups Sponsor "OUR DESTINY IS TO BE HAPPY" - Yogi Bhajan You can UNSUBSCRIBE from this list at the eGroups Member Center (My Groups), or send mail to Kundaliniyoga- NO UNSUBSCRIBE REQUESTS TO THE LIST PLEASE! Guest guest
Dear Deb, When the heart is really open, we are totally neutral. You could add a heart meditation to strengthening the aura as Sadhant suggested. many blessings, Gururattan Kaur - "deb" <debmck <Kundaliniyoga > Thursday, December 14, 2000 9:23 AM bouncing back > As someone who has only been practicing KY for a few months.
