Music question: Singh Kaur (& also Wahe Guru Kaur)

About 2 weeks ago, I ran across the http://www.sikhnet.org website.

On it they have their "Gurbani Jukebox" where you can listen to

wonderful devotional music on your PC. At the time, the only name

vaguely familiar to me was that of Wahe Guru Kaur (who for some

reason now calls herself only "Wah!" with an exclamation point- ??).

I happened to click on some songs by someone named Singh Kaur and

have been captivated ever since. Her voice is haunting, angelic,

ethereal, shimmering and beautiful. Somewhat reminiscent of Enya,

but these songs are devotional mantras.

I tried to find information on her, but found almost nothing on the

Net except listings of her CDs. I read a brief mention that she had

passed away in 1998, but no details were given. What is rather

uncanny is that I saw a videoclip on the Gurbani jukebox site, of her

singing one of her songs and my sixth sense immediately told me,

without any doubt or hesitation, that the cause was either cervical

or ovarian cancer. Then 2 days ago I read that indeed, it was the

latter. Why would I know that when I had only just heard a few of

her songs and knew nothing at all about her?

I am particularly captivated by her song, Mender of Hearts. It, and

her voice, are simply exquisite.

(Since beginning my Kundalini practise only a few months ago, this

intuition/sixth sense of mine is really starting to come out in

unexpected ways. A small and amusing example: Yesterday my spouse

came home with a gift for me: it was a small, plain gold box that

looked exactly, precisely like a box from a jewelry store. He said,

Guess what I have for you? I immediately knew/sensed what it was. I

replied, Chocolates! (My weakness...!) He was amazed that I knew

this.)

Pardon me, I am digressing... Did any of you, like perhaps Sadhant or

our esteemed Gururattan, know Singh Kaur? What a gifted, beautiful

person she must have been, and what a blessing it must have been to

know her and see her perform. May the Lord rest her soul. I

encourage anyone here who is interested to check out the sikhnet and

cherdikala websites to hear some clips of this woman's music. I plan

to purchase several of her CDs from the www.cherdikala.com website,

after Christmas.

Blessings and light to all.

N.W.
