Guest guest
HI, my name is Carlos. I practice 3 days a week, Hata yoga and some pranayama exercies and the rest of the week I'm doing Tai-Chi and Chi-Kung since 3 years ago. I´m very interested on learning Kundalini Yoga, but there are no teachers in the place where I live., and always had many doubts about it. 1.- Is it possible to learn from a book? 2.- Are there any risks trying to learn by myself? 3.- ¿The practice of Kundalini Yoga could take me to a different life, away from what I'm doing now? I'm a business men, 47 years old, married with 3 children. I like my Job, and love my familiy very much, but besides the life I have now, my inside is always searching for his spiritual esscence. I'd like to take the practice of Kundalini Yoga very seriously, but I'm afraid the changes that will come, might affect my actual life ( job and familiy ), cause I´dont want to quit any of them. Several times I've said to my self, "Maybe Kundalini Yoga is too much for me". This might sound fearful, but when I do something, I like to do it with discipline and fervor. I'll appreciate all the information you can send me. Thank You very much. Regards Carlos Giacoman Thousands of Stores. Guest guest
Sat Nam Carlos: Welcome to the KY group! > 1.- Is it possible to learn from a book? Yes, although you may want to get some video & audio tapes as well, to help with things like mantra pronunciation, posture, etc. When I attended teacher training, there were at least a dozen people who learned everything this way, and had never attended a class. > 2.- Are there any risks trying to learn by myself? No. Just remember to "tune in" before you practice - chant the mantra "Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo" 3-5 times when you practice. This mantra helps to connect you to your inner teacher, and to the "Golden Chain", the long line of teachers that have gone before us. One of the things that is different about KY is that Yogi Bhajan, the man who brought this yoga to the west, has made sure that everything is out in the open. Everything has been (or is being) published and made available. No secrets. So, although attending classes is great, due to the energy of practicing with others, and the fact that a teacher can answer your questions and help you find alternative postures when necessary (and so forth), there is nothing stopping anyone from learning everything they need to know by themselves. And there are lots of knowledgeable people on this list who can help with questions when a book just isn't sufficient. > 3.- ¿The practice of Kundalini Yoga could take me to a > different life, away from what I'm doing now? KY is a yoga designed for householders, people with full and busy lives, like you. Any changes you experience will make you "more you", not someone else. KY will not do anything different from the other spiritual practices you have been working with - it simply does it faster. I suspect you will find that KY is not "too much" for you, but "just right"! Love & blessings, Sadhant

Your underlying assumption is that the practice of KY will make your life worse. About about it will make it better? Maybe your children will be inspired by your spirutal connection, learn yoga themselves and live even better lives? Maybe your wife will love your new connection to yourself and you will be able to have an even more intimate relationship with each other. Maybe you will just be happer and everyone around you will be happier too. I could go on, but I think you get the point. Let us know. My experience is that life gets more meaningful and richer. And the sooner the better. Many blessings to you. Gururattan Kaur
Guest guest
Carlos, KY has changed my life for the absolute better. I, too, had a great life before KY. Now, everyday it gets better and it will only get better. I actually woke up one morning feeling internally "thrilled" about life . . . the first time ever. I am 42. My health, my relationship with my husband, my business is prospering in amazing ways! Guest guest
I feel so glad to belong to this wonderful group, I just suscribed 11 days ago, and had received clear answers to several doubts I had about Kundalini. I always considered Kundalini matters, kind of risky and not able to practice by ordinary people, just for those very advanced in the Spiritual path. I've been reading all the mails sent on these days, and find people in the same conditions like me. Gururattan, Sadhant, Connie Kadansky, Thank You So Much for your Responses! Best Wishes to Everybody!
Guest guest
Sat Nam Carlos, What is risky in this world is to not do KY or to have a spiritual practice. Then we are beat up and bounced around. Also, we are all ordinary people. And the more advanced we get, the more ordinary we become. It is a paradox and also a very beautiful thing too. Many blessings to you and everyone on your paths this New Millennium!! Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur
