Guest guest
Sorry this is so late a response to a question from the first part of December - still trying to catch up on reading my email. I too have had soft nails all my life, as has my mother. The last several years one after another nail starting getting split places going up the nail. I tried many remedies internal & external and nothing worked. Finally the only thing I could do was to keep them very short so that the nail would not snag on anything. I also have been a vegetarian (no beef, pork, fowl) for many years, and have taken many vitamin supplements for many years. In general I'm very healthy. Finally at one of the local health food stores the owner pointed me to information on thyroid. Many of the symptoms (often many and vague) seemed to match mine. One book I read stressed that thyroid tests are not reliable, so you should probably pay more attention to your symptoms than the test. Anyway, I have now been taking thyroid for over a year (raw thyroid - one pill a day) and my nails have stopped splitting and are finally growing out! I probably should take 2 pills a day but frankly they're fairly expensive. I'm hoping my KY work will also help stimulate the thyroid. Oh, and my mother tested low on thyroid and is taking the same supplement. Her nails have also stopped splitting and have started to grow. Best wishes, Janice Jones _______ Get your free @ address at
Guest guest
Hi Janice, In addition to the thyroid supplement, have you tried "Kombucha Tea"? Enter "Kombucha" into your search enjine, and you will get plenty info. Best wishes Maam. Mike(in Texas)
