Hello everyone!

My name is Danut.

I have a very very very big problem.

I sleep too much.

When I say too much I mean 12 to 15 hours a day.

I don't drink cofee or alcohool, but I smoke.

Does somebody has any idea to give me some help.

Thanks a lot.

Sat Nam Danut:

You might start by consulting a physician - there may well be

physical reasons for this kind of sleep issue. For example, there is

a known problem with a certain brain protein deficiency (this has

nothing to do with nutrition, it is a genetic thing that seems to be

related to narcolepsy) or neurochemical imbalances (such as bipolar

disorder) that may lead to sleeping too much.

Often, we sleep a lot when we are recovering from illness (or

suffering from it), or as a response to stress, or as an escape from

emotional issues that we don't wish to confront - depression goes

hand in hand with sleep disorders, for example. A practice of yoga

and meditation has been demonstrated to be helpful with all of these

things.

And, just as some people need less sleep than others, some need

more. I can tell you that most people (myself included) find that a

regular yoga/meditation practice causes them to need less sleep. One

reason for this is that it helps one to sleep more deeply - if you

find that you sleep very lightly, perhaps you are not getting much

rest from your sleep, and consequently need more. Learning to sleep

more deeply may be helpful in such a case, and you may need to begin

that process by deliberately sleeping less, so that you adapt to

fewer hours of sleep by sleeping more deeply.

There are meditations (for example, Shabd Kriya) in

Gururattan's "Relax and Renew" which help promote deep sleep.

Exercising (yoga or walking) before bedtime will also help to promote

a deeper state of sleep.

And, of course, nicotine, the active ingredient in tobacco, is a

stimulant, and smokers often find it more difficult to fall asleep

and that they wake up more often - again, interfering with that deep,

restful sleep state.

I wish you much luck in this!

Love & blessings,

Sadhant

Hello, Danut! The smoking will definitely do it. The more 'in tune' that you

become, the greater the effect that foreign substances will have on your body. I

am at a point now where I am giving up caffeine and sugar indefinitely -- they

almost make me sick (literally)! Since I have quit smoking (I smoked a pack a

day for eighteen months), I sleep a lot less, and have a much more stable energy

level when I'm awake. No more ups and downs.

Realize that as hard as quitting smoking is, remember that it's only a few weeks

of suffering for a life time of good health and LOTS more money in your

wallet!!!

Good luck to you,

Elam

Hello Ronen,

I have almost same problem with sleeping: waking up after 4 hrs. of sleep and

then fall in again, wake up in an hour and so on. I sleep crazy hrs. days or

nights:working night shift and it happened no matter what time of the day I

sleep, even on vacations when I can sleep all night. The best part - I feel

fine. Would you please explane what is the Magnetized water and super 7 stones?

Thanks a lot.

PS O, yeah, I don't drink any coffee at all.
