Guest guest
Greetings to all and a Happy New Year! Dear Tir, I think you are referring to a basic remedy from the practice of macrobiotics, which was popularized by George Ohsawa about 40 years ago. Macrobiotics ("Great Life") is a potentially life transforming practice of using concepts of yin and yang to understand food and our place in the ecosystem. I ate macrobiotically for several years and found myself much stronger and healthier, but alas, not much happier, as I tended to ascribe all my social and emotional troubles to issues with my diet, which was, needless to say, not true. I have found that I don't have the patience or industry to eat macrobiotically. I do have a tremendous respect for people who are able to follow that path, however. The Kushi institute is a great resource for learning about macrobiotics and Michio Kushi's books can also help. Macrobiotics is a complex subject and I would hesitate in making any recommendations without knowing you better and knowing the circumstances of your household. Your description of the buckwheat boiled does sound like it would strengthen you, but I would proceed slowly and avoid drastic changes in diet unless you are getting expert advice.... If you can obtain a pressure cooker, I recommend pressure cooking brown rice in a ratio of 2 parts water to 1 part rice for about 50 minutes. Add a pinch of salt or tamari and some kombu seaweed if available. This pressure cooked brown rice is a staple of the macrobiotic diet. I read in a review about an alimentary diet called Oshawa and which is said to increase the yang energy of one person. The diet consist in eating for 10 (ten) days only wheat, buckwheat, rice and millet. Amongst the recipes was one about boiled wheat. The rough wheat was recommended. I boiled the wheat for about 2 hours. Unfortunately I found it a little difficult to eat it. Not because it was hard, but because of its taste. Has anyone heard about this diet? Can somebody tell me another recipe, if possible not too complicated (I'm not too good in the kitchen) The recipe can be about other cereals too. Also I read that these cereals prepared after certain recipes loose their yang aspect and become yin, case in which their are nor recommended. Does the WHEAT becomes YIN after it is BOILED? My last request is that I prefer the answer to be in a simple english. Happy New Year to everybody. Thanks a lot, and I'm sorry if I upset you somehow. Danut.
