Guest guest
Sat Nam, In my yoga practice I'm sometimes hindered by a pain in my left knee - while sometimes pain can be gone through, this feels very much like something that shouldn't be. I've both read and heard the admonition to honor your knees in practice, as they can be damaged. Is this correct? Can you direct me towards any asanas or exercises that I can do to strengthen the area? Thanks, Reuben _______ Get your free @ address at
Guest guest
Sat Nam Reuben: Definitely, honor your knees - and your whole body for that matter! I don't think one should ignore pain - it is a signal from your body. The best exercises for strengthening the knees are frogs and crow squats. If you can't do the full exercise, try coming halfway down. Lots of walking has raelly helped my knees, and a consistent, but gentle, approach to my yoga practice has clearly resulted in improved strength & flexibility, as well as less pain - I rarely am bothered by them these days, even though I used to be due, to mistreating them with various sports in my younger days.
