Guest guest
Re: Quitting Smoking I have lung cancer and multiple chemical sensitivities, mostly from 30 years of working in construction and inhaling all sorts of toxins and second-hand smoke. I was a light smoker for a few years (4-5 cigs a day), but not enough to cause lung cancer. When I started doing KY at 50 years old, all my bad habits just dropped away like worn-out clothing. The motivation came from changes from within, not from forcing them on myself from without. I feel that a serious and steady KY practice will rid one of most any bad habits. Of course, smoking is a very strong addiction. If I could have 5 or 10 minutes to describe the hell that having lung cancer puts you trhough- surgery, radiation, etc., you might stop at just the thought of the consequences. I should note that after I had thoracic surgery and it was discovered that the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes and therefore removing my lung wouldn't even do any good, I was given a 5% chance of living even one year. That was almost 2 years ago, and although I have a pretty beat-up lung, I am healthy, active and enjoying life. I have done many alternative treatments, too numerous to list here, but the one constant has been my practice of KY and meditation and the very real healing presence of Guru Ram Das. Every day is wonderful and life is so amazing that I feel constantly in awe. Wahe Guru!! Keep up the yoga, learn what you really want from life- the gross stuff and habits will fall way. As Yogi Bhajan says, "Dwell in God, dwell in God." The rest will eventually take care of itself. Sat Nam- Ram Rattan Singh
