Guest guest
Karl: Yogi Bhajan is a great and compassionate teacher who offers a very disciplined, powerful and demanding school of yoga that offers guide lines for the beginner, routines for the student and a complete "Spartan" lifestyle for those who so choose. Just as the Dalai Lama comes from a Buddhist school of meditation in Lhasa, Tibet,Yogiji's homeland is the wheatfields of Punjab province in northern India, where the Ayurvedic culture has existed for centuries. The Sikh religion goes back to 1550~, and was founded by Guru Nanak(?) in Amritsar where the Golden Temple still exists. It is a hybrid of Hinduism and Islam. It sought to reduce religious warfare and foster personal improvement. Kundalini yoga is still practiced in India especially in the Punjab. Even during the British occupation, Sikh warriors were valued and respected for there integrity, re-spect for women, fierce fighting skills, and physical endurance. It is not easy to answer such complex questions with simple answers. To understand the origins of Christianity, one must understand Egyptian, Jewish, Greek, and Roman culture. Kundalini yoga is highly evolved and integrates the eight chakras. The "Khalsa" or "pure" or "Kosher" group in the USA are the most committed and most disciplined. Please excuse any errors that I have made in this e-mail. :^) -Seanrobb On Mon, 22 Jan 2001 07:54:10 Cyberblob wrote: >t >- >Karl <Stst1 ><Kundaliniyoga > >Sunday 1:35 AM > Kundalini Yoga Origin > > >> Could someone please give me information on Yogi Bhajan's origins, >> before he came to the United States? Guest guest
Thank you for the reply and geography lesson. Are you saying that Kundalini Yoga is a form of Sikhism? Who was Yogi Bhajan's teacher? Are they still practicing this in northern India? > > Join 18 million Eudora users by signing up for a free Eudora Web- Mail account at http://www.eudoramail.com
