Guest guest
Karl, What I mean is that K.yoga was developed out of a 500-year line of Sikh gurus, starting with I believe Guru Nanak. Perhaps these are similar to Catholic Popes, bishops or Cardinals. Perhaps they are similar to the Tibetan lama tradition where gifted students come forward and are chosen by the gurus by symbols and signals that they manifest by chance.(?) Tai Chi is a discipline that helps older people to maintain fluidity of movement and mental control of their limbs into advanced old age. Tai chi requires no one to follow any religious dogma. By the same token Kundalini yoga as taught by a certified teacher is generally given as a method or discipline for increasing conscious awareness of body, mind and spirit. It also helps one to keep limber, control weight reduce stress, and to be more efficient, effect- ive and aware in the daily activities of work, school or home. You are not required to be a member of the Sikh religion. If you play touch football or softball, you are not expected to become a member of a major league team like NFL or American League. Yogi Bhajan has said that you are welcome to learn from yoga what you need to improve your life. If you have no more time than to learn a good set of stretching exercises, you can leave it at that. If you are looking for power, you will find that yoga gives you the power to be a better world server or teacher. Who was Yogiji's most influential teacher? I dunno. Perhap's you could ask Gururattan Kaur or Yogiji himself. Perhaps that person is no longer in the land of the living, so you won't get an interview with his seventh grade teacher. Are they still practicing Kundalini Yoga in Amritsar? No doubt there are hundreds of teach- ers and practitioners in the Punjab. Probably, the Sikh officers/warriors are some of the best yogis, the more saintly ones are probably teach- ers or even hermits. Do they still play base- ball in the USA? Do they still play soccer in Brazil? Do they practice Aikido, karate and other martial arts in all countries? The answer to all of these questions is: Yes. -Seanrobb -- On Mon, 22 Jan 2001 04:57:55 Karl wrote: >Thank you for the reply and geography lesson. > >Are you saying that Kundalini Yoga is a form of Sikhism?
