Guest guest
Let me take a stab at this, to be further annoted by others as they feel necessary. Kundalini Yoga, especially through the technology of kriyas, moves a lot of energy through various systems such as the chakras, electromagnetic field, nadis (subtle nerve channels), and more. The degree to which your body is balanced in your various energy systems in part determines how the energy will flow in your body. When there are blocks, inbalances, or when nerve channels (nadis) are newly stimulated, the energy can feel a little crazy or chaotic. This is your body's attempt to integrate and assimilate the energy generated from the practice of the kriya, and your body and soul's response to being given an energetic "wake up" call. I have never seen this process get out of control when KY is practiced according to the instructions. The advice I would give if this happens is; 1) just observe the energy flow and don't get hung up on it. Do not attach thoughts or emotions to the energy, just let it flow, 2) Control and focus on your breathing- long deep breathing, one breath at a time, 3) Visualize moving the energy through places that feel tight or constricted and move the energy up the spine and out the crown chakra, 4) If there is a pattern to the blockage you discern in the energy flow, try to find the appropriate exercises or meditations that will help with that chakra or area of the body, and 5) Try a meditation like Kirtan Kriya, or Sat Kriya that directs and balances the energy. In my experience, this happened fairly often when I first started KY. After time, as your systems become more balanced and tuned up, the energy flow should calm down, smooth out, and feel very energizing and relaxing. Once your energy is in tune with the universal energy, Wahe Guru- enjoy the show!! SAT NAM Ram Rattan Singh
Guest guest
I am a real novice, particularly when it comes to meditation - my mind jumps around the place and I get itchy and twitchy! A yoga teacher suggested to me that on an inward breath I should visualise the energy rising up the spine from the base to the neck, and when breathing out, visualise the energy going back down. This really helps me to focus and 'settle' and if my mind starts wandering again, I just visualise this energy to re-focus. Simple, but it works for me.
