Guest guest
Hello Friends, I am curious about the different functions of the two eyes. I remember one of our Yoga intensives where these functions were discussed and worked on, but I didn't take notes. My interest in this subject was stoked recently when I read that looking into one or the other eye of an individual while talking to them can have different effects... I have started to notice which eye I look into when talking to people. Any information would be deeply appreciated. Sat Nam! Steve
Guest guest
Dear Steve, The left eye is the soul eye and what we bring in. The right eye is the worldly eye, which records the information and experiences in this life. Generally if you look left eye to left eye you go deeper and it is less conflictual. The right eye can often provoke conflict. Both eyes can activate confusion. What has been your experience? If you look inside with either eye you will be able to determine which one is stronger or more dominant. So it is easier to focus on the third eye or the tip of the nose with one or other. The weak one is of course the one we need to strengthen. This is what we experimented with in classs, getting to know ourselves through our own eyes and using one eye to help strengthen the other. Guest guest
Sat Nam, I am very interested with the functions of the eyes, as I myself have serious problems with the right eye. I have severe myopia and now experimenting "retinopathy" (?), meaning the tearing of the retinal tissue. I know this is unreversible but want to do as much exercises, both mental and physical to stop the deterioration of the tissues. I do conscious breathing in order to get the area as much oxygen in order to help microcirculation in the optical nerve and I think I am not doing enough and not properly ! I will very much appreciate to learn more and all advice that you think appropriate. Grateful to you all for having brought up this particular point, Sat Nam, Chama

Guest guest
I have a question, I have been wearing glasses since I was 4 years old. At that time my doc informed me that by the time I was 30 I would be unable to be corrected to 20/20. Well I am 35 and they are slightly worse than when I was4. My question being what can I do as far as yoga to never have the need for glasses again? I am both far and near sighted.

Guest guest
Sat Nam! I have worn glasses since before first grade and came across a book a couple years ago called _Better Eyesight Without Glasses_ (I'm pretty sure on the title, it could be different), by a man with the last name of Bates. It was written back in the 1930's or so and since then a lot more books and sympathetic eye doctors have popped up on the subject. Many can be found at Amazon.com. There are also yoga exercises for the eyes. I just got Gururattan's _Relax and Renew_ which has yoga sets and exercises for the eyes. Reiki-ing them can be very good too. There are many things that can be done, and many eye problems have been reversed. I worked on it for awhile and was able to significantly decrease my prescription the last time I got glasses. I found that it does take some commitment and energy to dedicate to it, and I had to take a break when I was pregnant with my last daughter because I didn't have extra energy for anything! But, now that she is seven months I am feeling more aware of my eyesight again. I work on not staring and moving my eyes, breathing, and relaxing them in general. I highly reccommend looking into some of the books and exercises if you are so inclined. It really does work. I am confident that with time, I will be able to go without glasses. Guest guest
Sat Nam, There are five sets for the eyes in my book Relax and Renew. Pages 50-54. And Leslie had some great ideas. And for Chama, let your left eye help nurture your right eye. And the right eye will tell you what psychological issues you need to deal with to help its healing. Many blessings, Gururattan Kaur
