Guest guest
Sat Nam Lily! Here are three possibilities: A phone # in NM for a place that was advertising turbans in last year's 3HO catalog: 505-747-3709. They don't say, but perhaps you could ask for instructions. I don't know how to tie a turban in any of the classical styles, but sometimes I do a simple "house turban" from the thinnest cotton cloth that I could find at a fabric store. I use a strip which is 12-13 inches wide and about 6 feet long. I knot two corners together at one end, and put that knot on the back of my head under the hairline. I wrap the cloth over so my head is covered and bring the material together just above the brow point, and start twisting the fabric until it is tightly twisted and I have enough to wrap all the way around my head, and repeat until I'm out of fabric (I like it long enough to wrap around 3 times - this feels nice and solid). The first wrap is the lowest one. When I get to the end I just tuck it in, although a pin helps to keep it from coming apart. What I usually do, though, is just a white bandanna. This is enough to keep my hair up and covered, and to apply some pressure to the skull - whatever approach you take, it is helpful to tie your hair up.
