Guest guest
Sat nam Sadhant, Thank you so much for your detailed post about the meditation. Several years ago I was doing KY with little effect. I rarely felt the energy rising but one night I perceived a rainbow coloured plume, about 18 inches high, shoot out of my crown chakra. I was over joyed. I thought, at last, I am on my way. For a week, nothing happened but then the rainbow plume burst through in brillent technocolor and that time, over four feet high. Again, I thought I was doing well and making great progress but in 6 months it did not happen again. I became so disappointed I gave up trying to do KY. Recently, I have felt I should start again and the Open Heart Meditation seems a good place to start. I will consciously speak from the Open Heart. That should attract some loving people into my life. That is similar to a workshop I developed to show people how to use the heart centered energy of Uncondiional Love. I recently made the exercises into files to make them available on the net and later I will make a web site for them. Thank you again. Eric/Huggie. Guest guest
Sat Nam Eric: I think it is important to realize that growth and progress are ongoing even if you aren't having exciting things happen every day. In fact, YB refers to this sort of thing as "glitter at the bottom of the ladder", and says that such things are not the goal of our practices, but actually are incidental flashes brought on by weakness, years of bad habits, changes in the pranic flow, etc. My experience is that the effects of our practices become more subtle as your practice becomes more regular, and as time goes by. And this makes sense, because with practice we become stronger, our bad habits drop away, and the flow of prana becomes more even. The kinds of experiences I am finding now are things like: not getting upset so easily; more feelings of peace and happiness; the physical/mental/emotional glow that sadhana leaves me with each day, etc. Not as thrilling, perhaps, as plumes of energy, but, as I see things at the moment, more important to me. Our culture conditions us to look for excitement - big enlightening experiences - leaving the body and flying across the universe or whatever - this is all fun and fine, and this kind of thing can keep us excited about continuing our practices, but this isn't really the point, I don't think, and maintaining such expectations about the practices can only lead to eventual disappointment. Going to everything in life with no expectations will never result in a letdown, and will bring us pleasant surprises. Pursuing our practices for their own sake increases our ability to find joy in life - and even, sometimes, in stretch pose (individual results may vary :-) Many blessings, Sadhant

Hi everyone following this thread- I have enjoyed all the comments posted thus far. I would only add that I have found it both grounding and comforting to guide my practices by one additional principle, which is that the practices need to be sufficiently rewarding ~in the moment~, so that even if I never do "get anywhere" else long term as a result of my practices, I will not feel as if my time and effort has been wasted. In other words, my practices need to bring immediate or short-term rewards that become obvious to me at the latest on the very same day of the practice- and if the practices don't bring those rewards, then I change what I am doing because judged by this standard, the practice simply isn't working for me. The benefits of living/practicing by this rule are many, for starters it is very good protection against burnout and disillusionment. This doesn't mean that I don't treasure some of the long-term rewards of practice. I do, very much. There are things that you can attain long-term that you can't get from a day of practice, even a really great day. But I tend to believe that if I am doing it right, I will see signs of that right away, and if there are no good signs to be seen, I'm probably headed down somebody else's path (not mine!). Guest guest
Dear Eric and Sadhant Singh, I agree with Sadhant's response except that (even though YB may have said and it may be true that these experiences " actually are incidental flashes brought on by weakness, years of bad habits, changes in the pranic flow, etc." I prefer not to discount them. I just don't get attached to them. And I definitely don't try to repeat them. Sometimes they are bonuses (Neptune visions) that move us to the next level. A bit of glitter can be fun if we enjoy it as a gift of the moment and then move on to other goals of living with inner peace, an open heart and a golden presence that inspires others and helps change the vibration of the planet to one of love instead of fear. Once a friend of mine went to see YB and told him of this great visiion and cosmic experience that he had. YB simply responded "There's more." And indeed there always is in this infinite universe. Keep going. The circus has just begun. Many blessings and Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur
Guest guest
Dear Eric, Adding to my just sent letter. >I perceived a rainbow coloured plume, about 18 inches high, shoot out of my crown chakra. This sounds like confirmation that the crown chakra is opening up. And we might also just feel an openness at the top of the head. Or we might just think and act more consciously. Don't look for these experiences but if they happen enjoy them. They don't last long. But they can make an impression that anchors us in our next level of consciousness. Of course the trick is to stay there and act out of this higher consciousness. > I will consciously speak from the Open Heart. That should attract some loving people into my life. Here you go. Action. That consolidates the shift in energy. Thanks for sharing. Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur
Guest guest
I am not sure if this is right or not but I too change what I am doing if I do not see shift of some kind. I have not experienced any big moments as some. But perhaps after a class that I have done the night before, the next day I see changes. Perhaps that I feel more peace than usual or that I "know" whos going going to call or who I will run into a few times, or I feel "close" to everyone. I even have days where Im in love with everything and I feel like I am going to burst. I wish I was a poetic as some of you guys in describing your experiences but there it is I have begun journalling things that are occur inside myself after certain meditation and sets I learn so i can go back and do them for 40 days. I didn't even realise some of the effects because they are so subtle till I stopped for a while. The all of a sudden it hit me "Hey! These are the negative thought patterens that you had pre KY ..yikes..and I went back to it quick enough Sat Nam
