Guest guest
I have been wondering about the custom of taking a name. Is this a direct connection with Sikhism or simply a way to discover your self? I suppose a committment is implied when you do that. Any comments? Guest guest
Dear Mary, I guess a spiritual name comes when you are ready to recognize who you are or who you are going to be. It doesn't matter whether you receive one from Yogi Bhajan or some other way. I received mine many years ago after writing a poem. I guess you can say I channeled it. I only found out many years later what it meant. Bing Shira = Serenity Song. So ask and you shall receive. Blessings, Peace, light, love Bing Shira (Shirley)
Guest guest
Dear Mary Anne, > I have been wondering about the custom of taking a name. Is this a direct connection with Sikhism No or simply a way to discover your self? Your spiritual name designates your soul path -- who you are and what you came here to do, express, be. I suppose a > committment is implied when you do that. Any comments? It helps you relate to your soul and higher self. There is a commitment, but then that is always there. It is easier to identify and maintain your commitment to your soul. Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur
