Guest guest
Sat Nam everyone I'm responding mainly to Peggy Sue's mention of the new yoga videos of R. Singh. I ordered two of them. When they came one didn't work so I called the 800 # so I could send it back and get another one and the man who answered jumped all over me like it was my fault and since then I haven't wanted to order anything more. I agree with you the work is good but the quality of music is weak and the background noise is there in mine too. I also have the one where you're doing 20 - 30 minutes of Sun Salutation then the rest of the kriyas? Does anyone know why the 30 minutes of Sun Salutation? Fat Free Yoga? What is that like? What's its purpose? To lose weight? What chakra centers is it directed at? Any insite is helpful. Crystal
Guest guest
Malcolm, If the video/DVD you ordered is 'Kundalini Yoga for Grace and Strength with Carol Carlson', I own that video and I love it. I remember when I first started using it I felt SOOO strong. I have been using a Ravi Singh video lately and I think his are good too although I was a little disappointed in the quality of his latest. Meaning that while I think the yoga sets are good the camera work seems a bit gimmicky and doesn't make up for the background noise. Lately though I'm using his 'Fat Free Yoga' which I absolutely LOVE. Peggy Sue
Guest guest
Hi Peggy Sue, Thanks for the reply. I also have Ravi's Fat-Free Video, as a matter of fact, that is the first one I ever bought, and the one that got me interested in KY. Is this video a good representation of the entire system, or are these exercises just geared to help eliminate fat from the body. Anyone know anybody in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana area that teaches/studies KY, or a website where I can find local practitioners? Thanks for the space, Mal Wagner
Guest guest
Dear Peggy Sue, > although I was a little disappointed in the quality of his latest. Which one was that? You can answer me off list if you want to. We are going to carry some of Ravi's videos and would appreciate feedback from any of you who have used them to know which ones to carry. If there is anyone out there with the expertise and the resources to make videos, please let me know. I am eager to make videos and need the support to do so. Prayers in support of this intention are also welcome. Together I am sure we can make it happen. :+) Everytime I teach a class I think, this should be videoed for all of you eager awakening souls. Guest guest
Dear all, Does anyone know why the 30 minutes of Sun Salutation? It is a basic hatha yoga pose that balances the whole body. YB told the ladies at ladies camp that if we did this 20 minutes a day we would feel balanced the whole day. Guest guest
Dear Gururattan Kaur and group, "Gururattan K.Khalsa" <rattanak > We are going to carry some of Ravi's videos and would appreciate feedback > from any of you who have used them to know which ones to carry. I have seven of his videos (Journey Through the Chakras, KY Live!, AM/PM Yoga, The Kundalini Experience, The Highest Step, KY Now!, and Breathing, Mantra and Meditation) and I think they are really great. I don't have much to say about the background music or noise - I barely noticed them (this is to say, they didn't bother me). I think the sets themselves are great, even if some of them may be somewhat difficult - the first two I mentioned and The Highest Step qualify in that category I guess. Some of you may have had a not very good experience ordering the videos online or by phone. All I can say is that I ordered these videos over time and I had excellent communications with the people there, that is why I kept coming back, aside from the fact that Ravi is a great teacher. If some of you have not taken KY classes before or are not in good physical condition, I wouldn't recommend you jump right into the difficult tapes. AM/PM Yoga and the Breathing, Mantra, and Meditation tapes are very friendly. AM/PM has a morning set and an evening basic set, nothing too challenging. The other one has a string of meditations and breathing exercises that you can do together or one by one, and this is ideal if you want to do KY but not get very "physical". KY Now! and The Kundalini Experience are for more experienced students - ie, think two-three months of KY classes or so, or no KY classes but previous hatha yoga or similar experience. The other ones I have are pretty much on the intensive side (Journey Through the Chakras, KY Live!, and The Highest Step). They are great, but I would really recommend going through the other ones first, unless you have a few good months of traning behind you. I can say that from experience, because I did jump into one of them too early, then had to recover for two weeks! One thing I really like about these videos is that Ravi has a knack for knowing exactly when you feel like giving up on an exercise and that you can't go on for even one second. Exactly then, Ravi would say, "Great, you can do it, you KNOW you can do it, don't give up now!" - and there is something in the way he says it that is very convincing... you will see : ) ! All things considered, I really recommend his videos. I think you will be happy to have them. Peace and blessings, Satsang Kaur
Guest guest
I'm excited about you carrying the videos! Ravi Singh's are great videos, and I seem to prefer his older ones opposed to the new ones. I have Kundalini Experience, The Diamond Body and these are pretty hard and what I started with. I have Navel Power and Long Live You and these to me are alittle easier. I also have two of the new ones, Yoga for Changing Women which I love (I do this one when I seem to be out of whack with PMS, hormone stuff) it calms and centers me. Higher Power Yoga is the one with the 20 - 30 minutes of Sun Salutation and I like these two but they are much easier then the others. These are the two where the music drags, and noise in the background but I still use them and like the sets he is teaching. Ravi Singh is a wonderful teacher and I will continue to use his videos and he has a connection with you even in the video that I haven't found in others. I have Chakra Yoga by Gurutej Kaur and I feel its a great one as a start to Kundalini Yoga and for a beginner. Hope this helps. Guest guest
I too can testify that Ravi's tapes are wonderful because I have seven of his videos, and had no problems in the purchasing process. Although the taping may not be done by a "professional", the main focus should be on "keeping up" and feeling the experience, otherwise your focus will be primarily on the quality of the tape. Each tape is a different level, so if you're new at KY, you may want to check to see what level the tape is before you purchase it. - "Satsang Kaur" <satsang <Kundaliniyoga> Wednesday, April 04, 2001 10:35 PM Re: videos > Dear Gururattan Kaur and group, > > "Gururattan K.Khalsa" <rattanak > > > We are going to carry some of Ravi's videos and would appreciate feedback > > from any of you who have used them to know which ones to carry. > > I have seven of his videos (Journey Through the Chakras, KY Live!, AM/PM > Yoga, The Kundalini Experience, The Highest Step, KY Now!, and Breathing, > Mantra and Meditation) and I think they are really great. Guest guest
Because I work in the digital media industry, I can support how important it is to achieve quality in everything we produce, especially if it is going out to the public...the PAYING public. Ravi's videos are not inexpensive, in fact, they are some of the more expensive KY videos available online. I find that this deters me from buying them and it makes it even worse that I hear that the quality is bad. For what he is charging for the tapes, I don't see there being a reason why they would be of poor quality. It doesn't really add up. You can say that it's about the experience, but for many of us, paying a lot of money for "the experience" is not always feasible. my 2 cents...which is not the same in U.S. dollars which is what I have to pay for Ravi videos...so I have to pay almost double with the exchange and the shipping and the duty. Guest guest
Regarding Ravi's videos...I have Yoga For Life, Navel Power, and Long Live You. I love them all. I find Long Live You the hardest for myself, but I get the best results doing it. I shake a good 5 minutes afterwards. Guest guest
Dear Angie, I love them all. I find Long Live You the hardest for myself, but I get the best results doing it. I shake a good 5 minutes afterwards. I am not sure this is optimal. That is a long time to shake. I assume you are wrapped up in a blanket and resting during this time. Many people forget the relaxation and burn themselves out over time. You will have to judge yourself if you are pushing too hard or if your body is just readjusting. In any case deep relaxation is in order and being very present to your energy. Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur
