Sat Nam,

Everyone time I do bow pose, cobra and the locust I instantly feel sick to my

stomach. Those are the only poses that make me feel sick.

Could anyone explain why that might be?

I don't know, but try holding your navel point strong during these exercises

and see if that helps.

One possible reason to feel sick doing these poses is when these

poses are done on a full stomache. One needs to wait at least two

hours after eating before attempting the asanas.

The poses that make you nauseated are all backbends which are stretching the

front side of your body. I had a condition that caused nausea and worse, by

putting pressure on the vagus nerve, the 10th cranial nerve. This extensive

nerve system, also called the "wandering nerve", has branches that go to

almost every body organ or structure from the neck on down, and particularly

all the abdominal organs. This is just a guess, but perhaps those backbend

poses are putting pressure on the vagus nerve (my guess would be in the neck

area) and that could be causing the problem. This is not definitive - just a

hunch based on my experience. Ram Rattan
