Guest guest
Sat Nam, About the dizziness. Are you drinking enough water? I know sometimes with certain sets that work around the kidneys you can get dizzy when you aren't drinking enough water. Blessings, Siri Ram K. Guest guest
I am very new to Kundalini Yoga, so I hope this question doesn't come across as totally silly. I am curious to hear the group's opinion on KY practice, Kundalini energy and dizzy spells. I have never had dizzy spells of any kind prior to the practice of Kundalini Yoga, but since working with the "Kundalini Yoga: In Grace and Strength" video more and more regularly/frequently, I've noticed (this week) a light-headed feeling. Today I experienced a solid dizzy spell -- quite alarming for someone who has never even come close to fainting previously. Would the release of toxins, the raising of the Kundalini energy, have any component to play in such an occurrence? Opinions, thoughts? Obviously, I'll be seeing my physician tomorrow as well but as I have no history of such -- and the biggest change in my lifestyle has been the inclusion of Kundalini Yoga -- I was curious whether anyone else has experienced this, etc. As always, looking forward to the discussion -- whether about this or something else! Guest guest
Hello! Your question sounds like a good one to me. Here is a link to some past messages on dizziness: Kundaliniyoga/messagesearch?query=dizziness We were discussing dizziness that people were experiencing before they began KY practice, but I think some of the points may still apply. There are probably other reasons too, but my expereince with dizzy spells has been induced by being ungrounded, ie: Spaced out, not rooted in your body. I have stopped having dizzy spells since I began consciously practicing being grounded by visualizing tree roots coming out of my feet, squatting down on the ground, breathing deeply into my body, whatever works. I know sometimes when I am teaching I feel like the class gets pretty spaced out and I make a point to do a grounding visualization to root everyone. Perhaps that is happenning with your video, I don't know since I've never seen it. But there are many knowledgable people on this list who will likely have insights for you. To accomplish groundedness keep your breath focused at the navel center (2 inches below the navel) Keep the navel center strong during exercises, i.e do not just let the navel center and abdominal region go limp. Guest guest
Hi Pete, It sounds to me like the experiences you are describing are natural spontaneous "cleansing" effects of the Kriyas, spontaneous kriyas occuring as inner cleansing of your mental-emotional system takes place. These experiences are not to be feared; it sounds like your practices are clearing "stuff" from your mental-emotional levels and your natural energy blockages are being released so the deeper levels of consciousness may be experienced. It sounds like your practices are working well; keep practicing and you should move beyond these experiences into the deeper levels. Sat Nam! Buddy Carl Pounds Pete Walters <pjw wrote: Hi! During the last 3 - 4 weeks of practicing Kriyas at home, I've been experiencing some strange things. Whenever I feel a negative emotion coming up, I get really dizzy. The dizziness makes me feel quite anxious, fearful and sometimes even forgetful and I have an almost constant "knot" in the stomach. Also, I'm getting memory flashes, especially one such a flash of when I had an electrical shock as a small child. Another is of a place I don't recognize at all, a white building with red polished floors. The flashes are very short (they last for much less than a second) and some of them are tastes or smells. Should I discontinue my practice? Please, can somebody with lots of experience reply with any advice? Chela Shanti. Guest guest
Hi! Thank you so much to Buddy and Dharam for your replies. Although the dizziness is not gone, it is easier to tolerate and to keep going when you know that it means your practices are working. Dharam can you recommend any reading material or websites to find out more about ayurvedic? Regards Chela Shanti
Guest guest
Sat Nam, Many years ago after a particularly strong Bio-energetic therapy session, I mentioned to my therapist that I felt sort of dizzy. She said "you're going to want to relax....really relax". She said that it was integration. That has been gospel to me ever since then. You still need to "get out of your own way". Lighten your diet, drink lots of fluids and particularly organic veggy juices (Carrot, Celery and a little bit of Beet is best for going through transitions) and yogi tea ( http://www.sahej.com/yogi_tea.html ) is good.....not mixed together! Do a search of the archives. Some good links have been mentioned. Can't recall them, right now, but do that search. Google is very good, also. Below are a couple. And get into chanting. You need to access and move with the emotional body. http://www.yogatech.com has a ton of Sadhana CDs plus others.
