Guest guest
>Dear Dawn, I struggle with an overweight problem too and I use Ravi Singh's "Fat Free Yoga" video which directly addresses this problem. I would highly recommend it to you. I think Kundalini Yoga is the best kind of yoga to do for weight problems. I take a gentle yoga class (not Kundalini) in my town because there is no Kundalini Yoga instructor here. Still sometimes I feel like that class asks me to "gently" do things that are very difficult for me, (I am strong and flexible I just happen to be shaped like a plum not a string bean) yet in Kundalini yoga I can do almost all of the poses and I feel much more energized by it. The poses that give me the most trouble are those "draw your knees into your chest" type poses. You can modify those by holding on to your legs behind your knees instead of wrapping your arms around your knees (which for me is impossible). In some forward bending poses I separate my legs slightly to give me more bending room. I hope this is helpful to you. For some poses you may just want to come out of them sooner and build up over time. It has really encouraged me to experience improvement in poses that at first were very challenging. I could hardly do 'Bow Pose' in the beginning, now I love it. And they say, with breath of fire, Bow Pose "burns fat right off the body"! Many blessings to you Sat Nam Peggy Sue > >Can an overweight person do this type of yoga? What if I cannot get >into certain poses, will it still help me?
