So again, i ask myself what can i do? what > > does this mean? I would try it sitting on a thick pillow or meditation cushion- that helps keep the spine in proper alignment if you are less flexible. You might also try first learning to sit comfortably with your hands in prayer position with thumbs pressed against your sternum. If you can find the way to sit straight and comfortably in that position, then you can maintain it while inhaling your hands overhead. I find it works best when my lower back retains the slightest hint of curvature- if in the beginning my spine is flattened out completely, it will round quickly as I tired and I will experience a great deal of unhealthy strain.
