Guest guest
Dear Henno: > I know that in a usual sesion one would do a kriya, relax and then >do a meditation. > > How about when you just do just a small warming-up and a meditation >at night? Is it advisable to relax afterwards? I'm not sure whether you are asking about Sat Kriya, which is special, or a general question about meditations. The only times that one wouldn't relax after Sat Kriya is when it is part of a larger kriya, and one then moves on to another exercise, in which case the instructions often specifically say not to relax afterward. But when you practice Sat Kriya as a complete kriya by itself, it is ideal to relax for twice as long as you have practiced, but always relax at least as long as the practice. I don't like to do Sat Kriya at night - regardless of the relaxation afterward, I find it too energizing. If you meant this as a general question about meditations, then no, unless the meditation specifically instructed relaxation afterward. The general rule for a complete session is as you state, but there are special kriyas that have specific instructions, like Sat Kriya, or "Becoming Like Angels", where one should not do a meditation afterward, and so forth. In the absence of specific instructions, we follow the general rule. It is like concluding each posture in a kriya. The general rule is to hold the breath and squeeze the root lock, but there are plenty of examples of postures where specific instructions are given for conclusion - then the special instructions override the general rule.
