Guest guest
Hi M-C Loaded-question my friend. I should post a disclaimer first, but--- go to a doctor, you may have a herniated-disk, pinched-nerve, or some fractured vertebra. Have you ever injured your back? Did the pain start all of the sudden or slowly got worse over time? Please be careful. I will pray for you. Nothing broken or pinched nerve. Have you ever injured your back? Did the pain >start all of the sudden or slowly got worse over time? no, i'd never injured my back. The pain come and go, sometimes. But this time it wasnt going away.. I think this pain is associated with stress periods.. Its maybe silly but i feel guilty caus i know i am the one who created this pain in my back, then i really have to stop and figure whats wrong with me.. such a hard job! Did anybody ever felt guilty of giving yourself so much pain instead of facing problems? i do.. m-c
Guest guest
Hi I also have pain on my lower back and recently I went to the chiropractic to work on my posture. No nerves pinched, just posture. I also realized that I can't do some KY postures for a long time, such as cobra. I do cobra, but very gently. Observe yourself, you will find ways to reduce your pain. Don't feel guilty, feel the blessing that you can observe yourself and make choices to get better m-c wrote: > >Hi M-C > > > >Loaded-question my friend. Guest guest
m-c, You may have a bulging disk - not broken or "pinched", but very painful. Doctors have not been able to help me with mine (after xrays, MRIs, chiropractic, cortisone shots, etc.). I have gone to an acupuncturist, who is also a yoga instructor & herbalist. The acupuncture has helped, but not eliminated the pain completely. He explained that this IS an injury - even though I cannot recall specifically hurting myself (I've fallen off my share of young horses over the years So, he gave me a very simple, relaxing yoga series of asanas to stretch & relax the lower spine - very easy...he recommended that I "lay off" any sets that cause the pain to worsen until it gets better. I can use the exercises he gave me as a warm up to a gentle set, or as a set unto themself. I do them, then 3 min. of stretch pose with my hands under my hips for support (very impt.) and 3 min. of Sat Kriya. Then at least 6 min. of relaxation...but it's critical not to lie in traditional corpse pose, because this really puts stress on the disk. I either lie on my back with my legs bent and resting on a chair, or with my legs resting vertically against a wall. I make sure to use alternate postures to protect my lower back whenever possible - especially to sit on a pillow in easy pose, or do rock pose instead. Most importantly, he showed me how to correct my posture whether standing, sitting, or laying down - I thought my posture was very good, but there were a couple of minor adjustments which have helped tremendously by taking pressure off the disk. This is something I do all day, every day. When I catch myself reverting into my old, comfortable posture, I think about my feet, knees, hips, lower back, and rib cage - how are they in relation to each other & am I pinching the injured disk, or am I stretching it. This has helped a lot. Email me off list, and I'll explain. Finally, when you go to sleep, or lie down to rest in bed or on the floor, be sure to place a pillow (or several) under your knees to raise your legs and push your lower back into the bed. This will make your rest better and may help the swelling to heal faster. Sorry so long - hope this helps. Back pain is no fun.
