Guest guest
Hello a few questions: 1) what are some quick energizers that i can do towards the end of the work day? ones that i can do while walking down the street or sitting on the subway would be very helpful (ie, involving only breathing and walking) 2) i have a very hard time focusing at my 3rd eye point. My eyes dont like to stay still and focused when they are closed. Also I feel like I cant find the center to focus on; I feel like I am always looking off to one side. What can I do to improve my focus on the 3rd eye point. I have very poor eyesight without my contacts (vision is fine when wearing contacts)--- could this weakness of my eyesight contribute to my inability to focus on the 3rd eye? Additionally, my right eye is weaker than my left eye, could that contribute to the off-center feeling? 3) i have been feeling off-balance with my senses, for instance when i listen to music i feel like i am not hearing it all the way and even hearing it with one ear more than another (i dont have physical hearing problems)--- are there kriyas to balance this? thank you! sat nam kristin

Additionally, my right eye is weaker than my left eye, could > that contribute to the off-center feeling? Your vision shouldn't have much to do with the third eye point. It is best to let the eyes find the focus by themselves rather than try to fix them somewhere. At the beginning of the meditation you might want to touch the forehead with one finger in a point corresponding to the third eye (a bit above the eyebrows - there is a small bone indentation at that point which your finger should find quite naturally), and then close your eyes and try to look towards the point you keep the finger on. Actually the third eye point is not on the forehead, but about half an inch / one inch inside - however touching the finger on the forehead should give you a relatively good focus. If you feel you are losing focus at some point, you can touch the forehead with the finger again for a few seconds and "redirect". > > 3) i have been feeling off-balance with my senses, for instance when i > listen to music i feel like i am not hearing it all the way and even hearing > it with one ear more than another (i dont have physical hearing problems)--- > are there kriyas to balance this? Yes there are many exercises and meditations for balance. Most balance problems come from an imbalance between the brain hemispheres (this could also explain why you feel off-focus when concentrating on the third eye), and also from not being "grounded" in your body. I had a similar problem at some point - in meditation I used to feel my awareness was literally half a foot to the left of my physical body. All exercises for the navel center will help you become grounded and centered (stretch pose and leg lifts for example). For balancing the brain hemispheres here is an exercise I like: Lie on your back on the floor, then at the same time inhale and raise your right arm and left leg at a 90 degrees angle (or as close as you can get). Exhale and bring them down, then on the next inhale raise your left arm and right leg, then exhale and continue. Try to flex your foot as you raise the leg, and extend it when you bring it down. You can do this slowly or fast, as you prefer, and think Sat on the inhale and Nam on the exhale. Three minutes at first should give you a good start. Guest guest
Hi Kristin: In addition to all the great things that Satsang has passed on: > 1) what are some quick energizers that i can do towards the end of One of the best quick energizers is Eagle Pose (Ego Eradicator) - arms up at 60 degrees, fingers pressed against the mounds at the based of the fingers, thumbs pointed upward, breath of fire 2-3 minutes. To conclude, inhale and bring the thumbs together above the head, stretching up and applying the root lock, and then slowly exhaling the arms down, "feeling a rainbow of radiance described by the arc of the descending thumbs" (Ravi). > 2) i have a very hard time focusing at my 3rd eye point. My eyes I found something great that I use at my beginners class. They are little stick-on things that one applies to the 3rd eye point (I found them at an Indian supply store). I make a little ritual of coming around and applying the stickers to everyone, and press them firmly on the right spot. Not only does it leave them with a feeling of the right place to look, but they can easily check by putting their finger on it at any time. Guest guest
Kristin, I have scoliosis too. Except my spine twists on its axis rather than making an S curve vertically. (iow, when my pelvis is straight forward, my ribcage faces slightly to the right, naturally) I am curious now if this would effect kundalini's path, and if i would have to do something to compensate for that. Guest guest
thank you everyone for your responses. also---- i have scoliosis which i think may contribute to my sense of imbalance. i have an S-curve in my lower back that curves to the left. i notice that the enery going up my left side feels very active while i cant feel any energy going up my right side. someone suggested that i should try to breathe into my lower right back. what else could i do? are there specific kriyas to balance the energy on either side? (i have Relax and Renew, Sexuality and Spirituality, and Guidelines for a Daily Saddahna if anyone could refer to kriyas from these publications) also-- what is Breathwalk? Guest guest
Hi Kristin, The best (although quite old) description of the Bates Method I've come across is by Aldous Huxley in his book The Art of Seeing, Harper and Brothers, 1st edition, 1942. He used the exercises himself to come out of near blindness. Hope this information helps, I know the Bates method works, from the experience of friends who have used it with miraculous results. Guest guest
Sat Nam Kristin, As a healer, KY teacher and body worker, there are many paths for healing. And combining some of the paths is very beneficial. There is a technique known as Ortho-Bionomy. OB translates into "correct prinicipals of life" It is very gentle but powerful and non-invasive. If you are interested, I would be happy to put you in contact with the Society to see if there is a practioner near you. Guest guest
Sat Nam Kristin: > also-- what is Breathwalk? What is the Bates method? and which BreathWalk combines walking with some meditational techniques (mudra, mantra, and pranayama) - there are many BW's, and each produces specific effects (examples: energy boost, rapport, mental clarity, etc.). There is a book (BreathWalk by Gurucharan and YB), and you can also find out more at: <http://www.breathwalk.com/> < sets in Relax and Renew are helpful for balancing eyes/hearing? The section "Additional Exercises for the Eyes" also lists page numbers for kriyas and meditations that are helpful.
