Guest guest
I noticed when I woke up this morning that I had a sweet taste in my mouth. This was very unusual but pleasant. Could anyone explain? Also I have been bothered by a skin rash for many years. It comes and goes then leaves the pigment lighter. Can anyone suggest anything specific in Kundalini yoga that might help to free this from me forever. I feel I am ready now. Could anyone explain? That is a sign of detoxification! Sitali pranayam, practiced regularly, will help detoxify and also cause this sweet taste. > Also I have been bothered by a skin rash for many years. I imagine it would depend on what the cause of the rash is, but cold showers are good for the skin. The book Owners' Manual for the Human Body has a set titled "To Make the Skin Radiant", as well as a group of kriyas that work specifically on glandular (endocrine) balance. Gururattan's Transitions to a Heart-Centered World has a section titled "Strengthening the Immune System" - many of those sets work on the glandular system or aspects of it (there is significant overlap between the endocrine system and the immune system - for example, hormones important to the immune system are produced by the thymus, hypothalamus and pituitary glands). BTW, one of the reasons that you are encouraged to focus at the brow point is that this action stimulates the pituitary gland and massages the connection between hypothalamus and pituitary, encouraging and mediating the general glandular stimulation providing by all the activities of Kundalini yoga. THere are also dietary things that are helpful for the skin, as in lecithin, turmeric, wheat, almond oil, rosehips, chamomile tea, green grapes, and papaya (from YB's Foods for Health and Healing). He also suggests some external treatments, including mustard oil, olive oil, and something called chidee, for which he includes the recipe. I highly recommend this book. Here are some posts from people on skin-related subjects that you also may find helpful: <Kundaliniyoga/message/3272> <Kundaliniyoga/message/3268> Love & blessings, Sadhant

Guest guest
Dear Sangeet Kaur, > Also I have been bothered by a skin rash for many years. It comes and goes then leaves the pigment lighter. Can anyone suggest anything specific in Kundalini yoga that might help to free this from me forever. I feel I am ready now. A few more suggestions to add to Sadhant's list: 1. this is not related to KY but it is very important: make sure you do not share towels with your family. If the rash comes and goes, as you mentioned, it is possible that you are getting it from somebody else. Many dermatitis types can be transmitted by using the same towels. 2. before you take a cold shower (if you do, which, as Sadhant mentioned, is very good for the skin), make sure you massage your body and especially the rash area with almond oil or grape seed oil. 3. do not use regular soap on the affected area. The pH and composition of most soap will make irritations worse most of the time. At least for the rash area use pH-neutral soap (you can find this in most drugstores) or soft washing foam. 4. if you are in a so-called "hard water" region or live in the city (where chlorine and other chemicals are used in water), make sure to massage the affected area with a very light skin cream or oil after washing, otherwise the dryness might also make the problems worse. Do the same if the air is very dry. 5. avoid eating fried foods, heavy dressings, coffee, strong tea, caffeinated sodas. If the rash shows up in various places over time this may mean it is caused by accumulated body toxins (as opposed to a localized contact dermatitis which is generally caused by microscopic bacteria or microbes). If this is the case, when the rash shows up you might want to try a short fruit fast for a couple of days to help flush out the toxins (bananas and watermelons would be good). If you have localized dermatitis it would be good to check with a doctor and try a medicated cream (avoid hydrocortisone if possible) at least at the peak irritation time. 6. breathe, breathe, breathe! Do breathing exercises whenever you can. Breath of fire is an excellent detoxifier. Try breathing deeply all the time. This will also help a lot and clean your system. These worked well for me and a few other people I know. I hope they will work for you as well! Many blessings, Satsang Kaur
