Guest guest
Sat Nam! Please, all suggestions, no matter how strange, to help my Restless Leg Syndrome!! The medication doesn't seem to be working. It not only manifests in my legs but in my arms too. It's driving me mad. Q: Can you suggest a kriya or set of kriyas to help rid me of these limb demons? Q: Is there a place on the web that shows lots of kriyas and mantras? It is impossible to describe how terrible RLS can be. hugs pax -t
Guest guest
it might be that doctors call something a "syndrome" when they don't know what it is or what causes it. Yes, i've been to doctors. No, it has nothing to do with circulation, but thank you for taking the time to write. RLS is researchable on the web, but there aren't any yogic perspectives on it that I can find. Also, restless leg syndrome mimics some of the symptoms of kundalini rising, so i thought that maybe some of our wise listees would have experience in this area. pax (peace) -t

Hello Pax, I was wondering what exactly this restless limb syndrome is, if you have an official diagnosis, or if that is your own description. I suffer from a condition where my muscles get restless and/or cramp up very easily because of a lack of oxygen from poor circulation. This is an actual vascular disease for which I needed treatment. If this is the case, the best you can do is get that circulation going, building up colateral vessels by excersising (the pain you feel isn't actually harming you, but you may have to stop every now and then to go on). Taking vasodilators has helped me too, and needless to say, kundalini has been a great help, to keep me focused and for personal strength. If this isn't your condition I hope it helps you with some insight anyway! Guest guest
One more thing I forgot, Try to keep away from things with caffene or other strong stimulants, at least until you confirm what the problem is all about, as they can work against good circulation. Tobacco smoke is the worst. Good luck! Auctions - buy the things you want at great prices http://auctions./

I was just starting the advanced class then and remember experiencing something similar to what you are describing. I felt like my legs (and my right one in particular) wanted to move or kick all the time and it took everything in me to try to not flayel (sp) my limbs around when sitting still. It felt like pent up energy stored in my legs or something... felt like i could have run a marathon with that energy hehe... I went back to my yoga teacher and explained what i was feeling and the responce i got was almost a cold one. I got the impression then that he wanted me to ignore the experience or that it had nothing to do with yoga. (he was also a psychiatrist so maybe he was thinking something else was wrong with me... lol) Hard to explain the reaction unless you were actually there. It was almost like he was insulted i was mentioning it... =\ "nonsense!!" It eventually went away, but i wonder now if it DID have something to do with the yoga or Kundalini. I get the feeling that hatha teachers are not as open about discussing K with students as KY teachers, almost as if we are tapping into a source that we should not be touching. i had mentioned that i tried my first Kundalini Yoga class to him once and he kind of rolled his eyes. He made some short comment that was meant to deter me from continuing with KY... but actually it only peaked my curiosity more... and i joined the KY class after his sessions were over... hehe Has anyone else gotten this responce from Hatha teachers? I am not saying all are this way but the few i have come across see to have a dislike for KY. I see all yogas as being valid in their own ways... although i see faster results in energy balance with KY sets, i feel the hatha sets are faster for flexibility and strength. Although i guess it depends on which sets you do too... ok sorry for blabbing so much... i dont post often but when i do i think i get too many thoughts out at once... hehe Sat Nam Akire
Guest guest
Dear Pax When I first started KY, I would experience jumping legs at night when I was in bed and it too was driving me mad! I thought about it a lot and asked the list for some suggestions and I found the following useful: 1) To use up a lot more energy during the day, especially through physical and aerobic exercise 2) To concentrate on the navel and deep breathing whenever I could remember during the day and espically in the evening 3) To focus more on relaxing kriyas and meditations before going to bed and not the energising ones 4) To focus on the jumping sensation and try to circulate the energy around my body rather than having it in just my legs 5) If the jumping got too bad at night and none of the above would work, I would get up and do some more KY (of the relaxing, calming kind) 6) To view the experience as something positive, as a challenge that I could learn and grow through rather than something negative that I should just be getting rid of. Over a period of time and through using a combination of these tips, the jumping faded away and I now feel much calmer and stronger. I am still very new to KY and I don't know if the above tips are really consistent with good KY practice, but I found that they worked for me. Perhaps you could try some of them and let us know how you get on?! With respect Jai Kaur

It was very difficult for me to begin to realize that really, my body and spirit benefitted more from Kundalini Yoga, and that hatha just didn't have the same effects. I like it still and practice it at times when I want to feel more flexible, but in general, it's Kundalini that gives me the benefits (greater connection to God, greater sense of self and self-worth, greater energy and calm) that I am looking for. In fact, one of the reasons I prefer KY is the focus on God and the chakras; it feels as if Hatha yoga in the West has become more about the physical form and fitness, rather than about a spiritual practice. > peace-- jessie > > >

It mentions theres may be a "deficiency in magnesium may be involved in RLS" as well as research has shown a possible link to anemia as a role. It talks about how taking vitamin and mineral supplements as one of the best approaches. It recommends, calcium, potassium, magnesium, and zinc, that seem to help more than anything. To prevent RLS, it suggests, 400 milligrams of B Complex, 1000 milligrams of magnesium, and 400 international units of vitamin E per day.
