Sometimes I intensely dislike the kriyas that I need the most, at

least the first few times I do them. My first teacher taught me to

choose my 40-day sets based on this response; she and I have both

found this an very effective technique. That doesn't mean they are

the most physically challenging (necessarily), but those which bring

up strong emotional responses (a sign of resistance) often indicate

aspects of ourselves that need work.

Could also be that you naturally have a very strong magnetic field

and that is why you get less effect.

My favorite kriya changes a lot - every time I'm about halfway

through a 40-day set, I decide this is now my favorite kriya.

:-)

But I'm particularly fond of the nabhi kriya (I'm totally biased

here, since I'm also doing it right now), and "Transforming the lower

triangle to the upper triangle" and "Prosperity".

My two favorite meditations, no question about it, are Sodarshan

Chakra Kriya and the 1-minute breath.

I completely agree with this, for me the kriyas I seem

to need most are the ones that are harder for me to

stick with or seem to need more effort put into them.

I love the warm ups I do before every kriya--ego

sintonizer, different back flexes, arm rolls, and

streching my legs while deep breathing. I don't know

the names of these.

My favorite kriyas now are for the spinal energy and

also elimination, but they are also always changing.

The meditation I always feel so much is this:

sitting in easy position with hands in gyan mudra, 5

minutes chanting "SA TA NA MA", touching the tips of

the fingers with the tip of the thumb, changing the

finger with every sylable, starting with the pointer

finger. This is done for 5 min. with loud chanting,

then continuing for 5 min. with a whisper chant, then

10 min. of silent, inner chant, then back to whisper

for 5 min., then out loud again for the last 5

minutes. When this is finished raise hands up over

head inhaling deep and holding in with strong mul

banda (contracting the first 3 chakras to raise the

kundalini) until you feel the energy leaving the top

of the head, then releasing the arms and relaxing.

If the whole time is too long it can be done for less

time, but keeping the same time proportions for each

of the modalities (consious, preconcious and

subconcious).

I have a question that relates to yoga practice in

general, but I particularly experience with this

meditation: my legs fall asleep so very easily! This

is the only thing that bothers me with this

meditation, I love it, but I get afraid that no blood

is going to my poor legs and it distracts my

concentration! What can I do about this?

A meditation pillow (or bench) makes all the difference in the world -

the corner of a folded blanket works well, also.

What I like is a V-shaped pillow that is filled with buckwheat. Nice

and firm, and easily shaped to accomodate your specific needs, and

malleable enough to be used to support some weight in Sat Kriya,

another one where my legs fall asleep easily.

A nice feature of this pillow is that I can remove some of the

stuffing very easily. Over time, one adapts to sitting, the hips

open up, and I have been gradually removing stuffing. Some days I

feel very loose and strong and don't need it. Other days I'm very

glad it is there.

I also find that a bit of support under the buttocks makes a huge

difference in maintaining a straight spine, especially for longer

meditations. Over time, as we gain strength and flexibility, we may

need these things less and less, but "training wheels" help!

;-)

Dear Sadhant,

Where did you get the V-shaped buckwheat filled pillow ? I haven't seen

anything like that and I need one too.

Love to all,

Do squats just before the meditation or move your legs if you need to. I am

sure others have some ideas too.
