Dear Julia, Just as a note of interest, this was also one of the man practices taught by St. John of the Cross to the monks and nuns in the various Abbeys. St. Theresa used to practice it and in the process gained many occult powers such as flying. It's a well known practice in all religions and yogas, but also very well known as a basic in Christianity. It is the very first practice taught by the Rosecrutians as well. I now recall having read sci-fi books of A.E van Vogt, a popular writer from the 40's to the 60's: Slan, Players of Null-A and others- that also had this as their main practice to become self aware. As energy and consciousness are the same, it is natural that one will become aware of the energy consciousness of the body/mind field through such a practice, between kriyas and at the end of sets in KY practice, which is also why this is the manner in which these sets and kriyas are taught besides the fact that the resting period allows the effect of the pressure and prana generated through the asana/kriya to completely circulates and realize its full effect.
