Guest guest
Sat Nam, A student of mine had a reaction last night in class and I would love to get your insight on what happened/how to help her. (Gururattan? Sadhant? anyone?) We were doing a heart chakra/immune system kriya from the Heart-Centered World manual. We had finished doing crosscrawls, rested a minute, then began the task of 26 frogs. Near the end of the frogs (nos. 25 or 26), my student had what she described as a sharp pain in her upper skull, which turned into a constant pressure/pain. Apparently she's still feeling the effects today: "The pain in my head was so sudden and intense that I truly wondered if I had brought on a stroke or something. It continued to pulse into the night. It does feel better this morning, but I still have what I would call a "pressure" headache in the back part of the top of my skull. Actually, it moves. Now it is in the front part of the top of my skull. Some pressure remains beneath my ears, too." After the pain occured, I had her sip some water and lie down to rest with some long deep breathing. It calmed down and we were able to finish out the kriya gently. After class, I suggested she go home and relax, take a bath, do whatever helps her to feel grounded/comfortable. It seems to me that the frogs may have released and moved some energy up her spine very quickly and for some reason, it all remained (got "stuck"?) around her crown chakra, creating the pressure she describes. Could this be the case and if so, does anyone have any specific recommendations for releasing it/helping her to feel better? Thanks in advance, Jai Gopal Kaur
Guest guest
Dear Jai Gopal Kaur, >Near the end of the frogs (nos. 25 or 26), my student > had what she described as a sharp pain in her upper skull, which turned into > a constant pressure/pain. Apparently she's still feeling the effects today: Frog pose works on the cardiovascular system. Any exercises that involve this kind of standing / crouching movement are actually pretty hard on the cardiovascular system. This is good because they increase the blood flow and the heart's capacity, but they might also be "too much of a good thing" for people with cardiovascular problems. I would suggest you ask your student if she has had experiences of dizziness, pulsing pain in the head area, or "brain rush" types of sensations when standing up quickly, and also whether she has any medical diagnosed condition. If she has had any of these symptoms, perhaps you could suggest her to go see a doctor as soon as possible. Sometimes people are not aware of any existing problems and end up doing exercises that they should not do. I would gladly refer to energy blocks, but perhaps it is better to clear up potentially dangerous conditions first. Many blessings, Satsang Kaur
