Shahzad:

I am having trouble deciding on what to eat and what not to eat...Just to remind

everyone I have just started on my journey to Kundalini...I have completely

given up meat, fish and egg and the only animal product I am eating is milk...I

am also trying to stop oil, salt, sugar, spices, onion and garlic...It would be

great if someone could guide me on what specially to eat...I would like to know

about the foods that help in meditations and other aspects of kundalini...I

would also like to know about herbs that are good for health and help in

reducing illnesses...I have read that ginger in very good for health...how

should i use ginger it to best effect...and I would be very thankful if i could

be guiding on things about nutrition that i do not know and need to

know...thanking you all in advance.

PS: Thank u Gururattan Kaur for your earlier guidances.

We don't recommend stopping onion & garlic - in fact, the combination

of onion, garlic, and ginger is called the "Gold Trinity" and is

recommended as a regular part of our diet.

Cutting out oil is probably not a good idea - the body needs a

certain amount of oil & fats, and when we cut out meat/fish, we

significantly eliminate fat in the diet. Olive oil, sesame oil, and

other such "good" oils are best.

Spices are an important aspect of diet, and many are specific for

healing certain things - in fact, one of the staples of a KY diet is

a tea made from spices called yogi tea - here is a pointer to a

recipe:

I highly recommend Yogi Bhajan's book "Foods for Health and

Healing". This will give you many ideas about how to use herbs &

spices, like ginger, for healing, as well as providing lots of great

recipes.

Many blessings,

Sadhant

Sat Nam,

..I am also trying to stop oil, salt, sugar, spices, onion and garlic

We actually need oil, salt, spices, onion and garlic in our diet. The salt

has minerals necessary for the body's functioning. Just need to get sea

salt or higher quality, non processed salt. Sadhant has covered the rest.
