Does the energy come in through the navel - and then move up through the spine

and ideally out of the top of the skull while doing Sat Kriya?

During Sat Kriya I notice heat generated at the base of my skull. Afterwards I

notice more oxygen in my throat sort of swirling around with some heat. This

lasts for some time. I feel very energized as well.

Dear Sangeet Kaur,

In Sat Kriya the energy is generated in the muladhara at the base of the

spine, not received through the navel. And yes, ideally this energy moves up

the spine and out the top of the head. It is possible to have "energy leaks"

on the way however, or blocked chakras which prevent the energy from flowing

all the way up. Regular practice of Sat Kriya will result in opening all the

chakras so that the energy can flow unrestricted.

Many blessings,

Satsang Kaur

Hello everybody, hello Satsang Kaur,

I'm new to this forum too (finally managed it to be able to post :-)

But reading the SAT KRIYA description mentioned above I, as a

Kundalini Yoga teacher, allways stumble above "elbows hugging ears".

Did anybody ever managed to do that while practicing Kundalini Yoga?

Or is this the description for short-armed-ppl? ;-)

Blessings to you from Germany + Sat Nam, Hari Har Singh

Dear Hari Har Singh,

Sat Nam!

Most welcome to the group! Your name has been been warmly mentioned on the

list before, so we are very happy you could join the group. Loud cheers,

everybody : )!

The "elbows hugging ears" description apparently comes from Yogi Bhajan. It

really should be "upper arms hugging the ears". I think I understand though

why he put it this way. The thing is that the elbows have to be as close to

the head as possible, and not out to the sides. So if you say "elbows

hugging the ears" that will make people pay attention to their elbows and

keep them tight in, even while causing a bit of semantic trouble ; )!

Many blessings,

Satsang Kaur

Hm, I try - but the ellbows are nevertheless close to my head when I

say "the upper arms must hug the ears and the (index-)finger point up

to the sky". That's how I explain it to students.

I'm not shure if many ppl understood or even realized this "semantic"

problem in Germany because many may not read the english description

that carefull and intuitively do it the right way - but imagine some

Germans try to do that es described - you know: we allways want to do

it very correct! :-) - they'll get a cramp in the shoulders or

something like that. ;-))

Though Kundalini Yoga is an evolutionary art and we are allways

encouraged as teachers to learn from other Yoga paths too I recomend

that this little 'mistake' is adjusted, wether with an explenation as

you just explained it dear Satsang Kaur or writing it in another way,

so that is clear and not missunderstandable.

Well, it's not a big thing at all - just something that came to my

mind ... :-)

All the best to you!

Do I meet someone of you ppl here also at the alt.yoga newsgroup?
