Guest guest
hi all, still talking about lower back pain. I have this pain since a month now, and its not going away. I got x ray, blood test, everything was fine. But my lower back is still keeping me at home all day long.. This pain started with some problem i got accepting some things at work. I first thought that this back pain was directly associated with my problem to accept some things. But even now, after one month, this pain doesnt want to go away and i dont know what to do. I thought that my body unconsciously created the pain so i can get some days away from work and the stress they caused to me, but now that i'v accepted what they did, i want to go back to work, but my back doesnt seem to want me to.. i dont know what to do, i am getting really depressed now (passing all day at home its not my thing!) and i dont have any motivation to do KY, which i know would help me, but every movement is soo hard to do.. what can i do to give me motivation to do some minutes of KY, which kriya could help? sat nam, m-c

Assuming you don't have a physical problem that is causing the pain, which you seem to have checked into (although for most people the cause(s) of lower back pain is never pinpointed), the thing to be aware of is that inactivity may well be the worst thing you can do for healing your back (or anything else). The main cause of chronic lower back pain for most people is the combination of poor posture (particularly poor seated posture, since most of us sit at work) and weak muscles (not just the lower back, but also the abdominals) - if one is overweight, this will aggravate the problem, as well. I would focus, therefore, on exercises which strengthen and add flexibility to the lower back, like the spinal flex and kriyas like the basic spinal energy series, as well as those which focus on the abdominals, like alternate leg lifts, stretch pose, and nabhi kriyas. Paying attention to good posture during these exercises (and all exercises) is very important, as is paying attention to your seated posture. Back at work, you might consider using a timer that goes off from time to time to remind you to correct your posture, as well as stopping regularly to stretch your back. Adding more yoga into your routine will also help counteract the feelings of depression you are experiencing. One of the great things about a yoga practice is that it changes how we feel at the same time that it helps to heal ourselves, strengthen muscles, add flexibility, and so forth. Lots of practice with meditation will help you develop a better seated posture and helps to develop the habit of correcting your posture regularly - and changing our habits is the key to regaining and maintaining good health. Another good thing to add to the routine is regular cardiovascular exercise - walking is probably the best and safest exercise (and if you use BreathWalk techniques, you can add many of the effects of meditation to your walking - find out more at: <http://www.breathwalk.com/> Walking (or whatever exercise you choose) will also make you feel better, help to stretch your muscles, increase blood flow to your whole body and thereby speed healing, etc. Many blessings, Sadhant
Guest guest
Sat Nam, X-Rays are not always definitive. A MRI or Cat Scan might be needed. What kind of pain is it? Have you tried massage or body work???? There is a wonderful ky set for the lower back. I will have to see if I can locate it for you. Guest guest
Sat Nam Sadhant, Great reply. You might also want to keep in mind that the heel of the shoe can be a culprit. Something as simple as checking for uneven wear can take care of lower back pain. Guest guest
Hi All, I'm I new member and am really enjoying all the discussions and tips. In regards to back pain, I have had lots of bad experiences. However, I don't really have much advice but rather an interesting experience. When I was young I fell from a fair height. Didn't think much of it at the time, but when I started to grow up I had really bad back and leg pains. I went to a chiropractor and he noticed that my body looked asymetrical. In the last couple of years these pains have come back and I went to another chiro, who took xrays and the like. They observed that one of my legs was shorter than the other. After realising that these chiros weren't the best I took the xrays to a radiologist. His diagnosis: that asymeteries are normal in the body, and mine shouldn't cause too much of a problem. I have since started yoga practice and the pains have since left. When I am slack though, they come back!!! Perhapsm, as individuals we are all shaped differently... but it does help to be healthy!
