However I find doing the spinal exercise series the best thing to get me going in the morning. I am suprised how effective it is and it is for me an essential start to the day especially if I have had a bad night's sleep. I do the slightly simpler version on the Kundalini website given as the alternate spinal exercise. If you have trouble finding it I will go and look up the web address. One of the advantages of this exercise is that it is easy to do but is very energising. (I do the other version in the evening) In general though you probably have to have more motivation to do the exercises regularly on your own and going a to a class may be the best way to start. Guest guest
Dear group, Now this might be too harsh, but the thing that gets me going no matter in what state I wake up is the famous cold shower. In my "parallel" life I am a software engineer, which means I am lucky to get 4 hours of sleep at rather strange hours. Sometimes I have a hard time getting out of bed too (more because I am not getting enough sleep than not sleeping well) but cold water works wonders. Afterwards you can do yoga or read the newspaper or whatever, but one thing is clear and that is, you aren't going back to sleep. Also opening the capilaries and quickening the blood flow, which a cold shower does, goes a long way towards making you feel full of energy the whole day, or certainly a long part of it. One other thing - if she is not a fan of cold showers ; ) - is the breath of fire of 4-step breath (inhale in 4 parts and exhale in 4 parts at a rapid pace). Eagle pose is also a great energizer that might help her get started, and nothing beats eagle pose with breath of fire! Guest guest
I'd like to thank everyone who took the time to answer my questions. You guys are so thoughtful and kind. I do have one question though. > Eagle pose is also a great energizer that might help her get started, > and nothing beats eagle pose with breath of fire! > > Many blessings, > Satsang Kaur Is Eagle pose the one where you stand on one leg and wrap the other leg around it? Plus you're arms are entwined as well? Thanks. -Angie _____ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/
Guest guest
Hi Angie, > Is Eagle pose the one where you stand on one leg and wrap the other leg > around it? Plus you're arms are entwined as well? Thanks. That is sometimes known as eagle or tree pose in Hatha Yoga. The eagle pose we do in KY is different. To do it you have to sit cross-legged on the floor, and raise your arms up at 60 degrees. Keep the arms straight with no bend in the elbows, point the thumbs up and curl the other fingers into the top of the palm (where the fingers start). You can do this with breath of fire. This version is for radiance and energy, and expands your aura. There is a slighly different version where you don't curl your fingers, but keep them straight so they form a line with your arms. This is done sometimes with breath of fire and sometimes with long deep breathing. For this second version, you can also visualize a stream of light entering your body through the arms. This version also expands your aura but is calming in its effect. It is also used to open yourself up to a higher consciousness.
