If anyone has posted to the list within the last few weeks, and receives an email with attachment from Pisces, with a message to look at the attachment, then delete it immediately as it is infected with the Bad Trans virus. I received 7 such messages this morning. Please note that it is the virus itself that is using Pisces' filed email messages to send out these unsolicited messages. I have already advised Pisces to carry out a disinfection procedure. If you have opened the attachment, and are a user of Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express, then you should disinfect your system immediately. This virus, apart from sending out messages to every unanswered email on your system, also emails details of any passwords it finds stored on your system to an address accessible to the virus writer. This reinforces the message - do not open any email attachments unless you are certain they are from a bona fide source, and even then proceed with caution. Keep your anti-virus software up-to-date - all my incoming mail is filtered by Symantec, which is a very secure way to process your emails. All attachments to messages sent to the Kundalini Yoga list are removed automatically by , so you are safe reading any of our messages. If anyone has any queries about this then please address them to your anti-virus software vendor, and not to this list. Sat Nam! Guest guest Posted June 11, 2001 Report Share Posted June 11, 2001 Hi Edie Yes, you have the infection - your computer has just sent me an infected attachment. This virus is sneaky - the message that says your attempt to open the attachment has failed only serves to cloak the fact that you have become infected. If you have any passwords stored on your computer, then you should change them all as soon as you have dealt with the infection. The virus is called W32.BadTrans - you can check it out at the Symantec Web site, or that of any other anti-virus software vendor. Sat Nam!
