Guest guest
Hi Elif, > I'm new on this site and happy to join everybody, can anybody please > tell me, why are we bending four fingers inside the hand while doing > fire breath ? Welcome to the group! I think you are referring to bending the fingers in Eagle pose while doing breath of fire. This is done so that the energy generated when you are doing this pose would not go out of the body, but stay inside. This is also the reason why we use gyan mudra (thumb and first finger meeting) in meditation. According to yoga, there are different energy channels in the body. A few of these end in the fingertips. Curling the fingers in or touching them to the thumb acts like closing an electric circuit. Touching different fingers has the effect of closing different energy circuits, for different results. There is a variant of the Eagle pose done with the fingers open and pointing straight out, while visualising light pouring down through your arms - this version is done to receive energy from the universe.
