Hi

I have been practicing KY for over 3 months now. I start with the daily

morning essentials as soon as I get up..A couple of days ago while

practicing the (rolling on the spine with knees on chest and nose between

knees), I felt a small pain in the lower right rib area..It did not hurt

and so I continued through. Later when I was practicing the major kriyas,

there was pain, but I could complete my practice..I landed up using off the

shelf muscle creams..Today as I started my morning essentials I could not

bend my knees to the chest..The pain was pretty evident..I am not able to

perform breath of fire as the same region hurts..

I was wondering if anyone could help me understanding what I possibly could

have done wrong inadvertently? Please bear in mind that I have been working

on these kriyas for 3 months now with no such occurrence before..Also if

you could recommend any treatment for the pain..Or is visiting a doctor the

best alternative..FYI I do not have any pain in any other region of my body..

Thanks in advance

Certainly visiting a doctor is a good idea if this problem continues.

The question, which of course we cannot answer, is what is the source

of the problem? The area you describe could be the liver, and pain

in the liver could be a symptom of toxicity. Practicing yoga helps

us to release toxins, of course, and I sometimes experience things

like this as I work through the cleansing that naturally accompanies

doing this sort of work.

Also, as we progress, we often work through old injuries, and the

stored tensions and toxins, scars and adhesions, etc. that previous

trauma left behind. I injured my shoulder in a skiing accident many

years ago, and it was very slow to heal, and never quite healed

correctly. Last year, that injury resurfaced. I was doing a kriya

with a lot of shoulder work in it, and every day it hurt, it popped,

it made grinding noises, all kinds of stuff. I just kept working

away at it, and eventually it subsided, and now my shoulder seems to

actually be completely healed.

Other potential problems include different internal organs (gall

bladder, large intestine, etc.) strained muscles, cracked ribs, etc,

and time and/or medical attention may be required. The spinal rolls,

of course, should only be done on a padded surface.

Remember - when in doubt, seek professional, qualified assistance -

few yoga teachers are qualified diagnosticians. But also remember,

once you know what the problem is, that no doctor can heal you

(however, they may facilitate, or hinder, the process). Only you can

decide what is best, and only you can heal yourself.

Hope this helps!

Many blessings,

Sadhant
