Guest guest
I stumbled across the following passage on Beliefnet.com and being new to Kundalini Yoga would appreciate some comments on the last sentence. I am currently practising KY at home on my own but using the videos by Nirvair Singh Khalsa which I thoroughly enjoy. So would I assume that I am getting proper guidance in this way? Is the comment made by Beliefnet regarding problems an exaggeration on their part? "Caution: high voltage - Serpent Power The main goal of Kundalini yoga is to raise the energy at the base of the spine, sometimes referred to as the serpent power, to the crown chakra through breathing, sound, and hand positions. The energy is powerful and without proper guidance can cause physical and emotional problems." Sat Nam, Di

Even if you practice on your own without a video, if you tune in before practice with Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo you will receive subtle guidance. The warning Beliefnet posted is directed to people who try to awaken the Kundalini without following a legitimate yogic path. It does not apply to KY. If you remember to tune in before practice, you should know you are protected by the grace of the whole lineage of yoga masters, and you have nothing to worry about. Many blessings, Satsang Kaur
