Guest guest
Dear Sriyani, >The next day I > felt great - no aches and pains and a sence of well-being enveloped my > whole body. That was all. After that day my health deteriorated. The > second tuesday I woke up with migraine and could not do anything. Later in > the week I developed a temperature in my body with non-stop coughing. > Today I am on antibiotics and has not attended any more KY classes. I hope > to go on the 10th of July. I wondered if my sickness is connected to KY. A warm welcome to the group and to Kundalini Yoga! Your sickness does not sound like one of the possible effects of KY, but it might be somewhat related. It is possible at initial stages of Kundalini awakening for latent sicknesses to manifest or old injuries to hurt again. Fever is a quite common symptom, but not coughing or a need for antibiotics. The first stage of a Kundalini awakening includes the purification of the physical body and pranic body. The Kundalini energy is effectively going through every cell in your body to clean it up. The latent sicknesses that sometimes manifest are only for a short term and they only come up to be completely dealt with by the Kundalini - a common observation among yoga practitioners is that if a sickness comes up after your Kundalini begins to move upward, you will very likely not experience that sickness ever again. Please know that the Kundalini is there to protect you, not to do you harm. If you need antibiotics however this might not be related to KY at all. Please take good care of yourself. If you still have a fever, you could try Sitali Pranayam to cool it down. To do this, if you can, curl your tongue into a U shape and extend it out a little bit. If you can't do this just extend your tongue out straight. Inhale through the curled (or extended) tongue and exhale through the nose. Do this for 11 to 31 minutes for best effects. Also left nostril breathing is very cooling (block your right nostril with the thumb of the right hand and breathe slowly and deeply through the left nostril). Left nostril breathing is cooling, while right nostril breathing is warming. Sleeping on your belly with the head turned to the left (left cheek up) also helps because the left nostril will thus be more open than the right one. Many blessings, Satsang Kaur
