Guest guest
How does pregnancy change the practice of Kundalini Yoga. I know that root lock is not good. HOw about stretch pose? Breath of fire? No inverted poses! Any thing else specific. Thanks, Sharon
Guest guest
Dear Sharon, > How does pregnancy change the practice of Kundalini Yoga. I know that root > lock is not good. HOw about stretch pose? Breath of fire? No inverted > poses! Any thing else specific. Stretch pose and other abdominal exercises (leg lifts, especially double leg lifts) are also best avoided. So is breath of fire after the 3rd month, as fas as I know. Long deep breathing is on the contrary an art that you should definitely master since it will be of much help during pregnancy and delivery as well. You should also avoid Sat Kriya during this period. The list can go on, but my best recommendation is to get one or more books and videos that deal specifically with KY for expectant mothers, and also exercises after the baby is born - some even include "mom and baby" exercises. Some of these are listed on our site www.kundaliniyoga.org, and a few others are available from www.cherdikala.com ,and they are done by well recognized teachers. With them you can continue your KY practice during pregnancy as well as be sure you are doing safe exercises. Many blessings, Satsang Kaur
