Guest guest
My friend has poison Ivy (bad)..needs help please.. She got poison ivy after weeding in her yard. She had a severe reaction; blistering, swelling rash all over her arms, legs and midrif. She purchased EVERY possible OTC remedy from oatmeal and other bath soaks to hydrocortisone creams, calamine lotions, etc. After calling her doctor and speaking with numerous pharmacists around town the ONLY things that she found to be effective were 1)a steroid shot (which was in itself not initally effective) 2)Ivy dry liquid 3)steroid medication pack (ingested) 4)Benedryl pills (not creams or liquid sticks) to relieve the itching . The Ivy Dry and steroid medication-ingested were the only things that in combination dried her blisters and helped to diminish the rash and itching. I hope maybe someone has a Kriya that will help cure and maybe prevent this disease!! Sat Nam Cy
Guest guest
Cy, Have had a little problem here myself, the only help I can offer is time 2-4 weeks and a little symptomatic (hope I spelled that right) relief. Have you friend take a shower, make the water as hot as she can stand it and direct the stream at the area affected it will itch like crazy as you do this, it will itch so bad it will be almost feels good, aprrox. 10-15 min after you get out of the shower the itching will stop for 2-4 hours Than it is shower time again. Guest guest
Dear Cy, I had an inch from a plant and soaked in comfortable temperature bathtub with baking soda. It helped a lot. Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur
Guest guest
I have found that the juice from the aloe vera plant soothes almost all skin ailments, tho i've never tried it on poison ivy. there are lots of products derived from the plant; but the best thing (tho a little messy) is to get a plant, break off a stem and use the thickjuice you squeeze out of it. I've used it on everything from sunburns to hives to fever blisters. sukhmani - Gururattan K.Khalsa Kundaliniyoga Sunday, July 08, 2001 12:15 PM Re: Poison Ivy... Guest guest
Here are a few herbal formulas that might help: blood purifying formula.... Chaparral - 1 part Yellow Dock - 2 parts Echinacea - 2 parts combine the powders in gelatin capsules, and take two capsules every 2 hours. Calm itching and reaction to pain using antispasmotics suck as.... Kava Kava - 1 part Valerian - 1 part Black Cohosh - 1 part Lobelia - 1/2 part Combine powders in gelatin capsules and take 2 capsules 3 times per day. external: apply a poultice of comfrey root, mashmallow root, slippery elm, aloe vera, and witch hazel. Equal parts of each. You can also try using a clay pack on the areas. Do NOT use cortisone cream on it. that will only make it worse and will weaken the skin and perhaps spread the infection. She may also want to try accupunture in combination with the herbal formulas. It's important to commit to the herbs and use them as directed, not just use them a few times and quit if there is no instant relief. Herbs are deep acting medicine and they work in harmony with the body's immune system. If she doesn't want to make her own... here is a link for product especially for poison ivy http://www.earthwormherbals.com/poisonivy.html Also....check out this homeopathic remedy called Rhus Toxicodendron (or Poison Ivy) - it's a tablet that you stick under your tongue and let it dissolve. good luck! Guest guest
Sat Nam everyone! I just returned from a week's vacation in western New York state visiting family. How I miss the country and can't wait to get back to living in it! I also visited my teacher, Siri Narayan Kaur Khalsa, which was wonderful and inspiring as always! On the topic of poison ivy I would like to share that there is a wonderful plant called jewel weed whose stalk and leaves contain a juice that is excellent for poison ivy. It often grows near by. The juice can be used fresh or frozen, which is very nice to use. That way you can have it ready in the freezer when you need it. I don't have time to write much more about it right now, but I had to mention in. Also, please be aware that gelatin capsules are not vegetarian, and also use caution with herbs like Black Cohosh and Lobelia which are very powerful.
