Guest guest
sat nam-- this morning, while doing a set from Transitions to a Heart Centered World--I believe it was simply called Kundalini--I experienced quite a bit of resistance and what I can only call fear when it came time for me to do camel. I was in it for about 2 seconds when I began to feel as if I were going to throw up and became very frightened. This is not the first time it has happened, although it certainly doesn't happen every time I do camel. My question is this: should I continue to try Camel, figuring that whatever emotion it is eliciting should be coming to the surface and needs to be worked through, or should I simply cut out sets that include Camel? What could be causing this? I am not really that fond of backbends, but Camel is the only pose I've encountered where fear comes up. My second question is this: I have been adding 2-3 minutes of Sat Kriya to my practices, and feel wonderful. This morning, however, I began to feel the rise of something very powerful--not an energy, per se, but an emotional wave, almost. i had to stop after a while, because it felt so strong that I began to feel overwhelmed. Is this something that simply happens with practice of Sat Kriya? Also, is feeling an inordinate amount of heat also common? Many blessings to you-- jessie

Fear is both a navel chakra issue and a first chakra issue (although in camel it is the navel chakra that would be most involved), and backbends are very likely to bring it up. Try contracting you navel area while doing backbends (including camel) and make sure not to eat for at least 1 hour before this. It is said that liberation is just on the other side of fear. You don't want to stop now, do you ; )? Many blessings, Satsang Kaur
