Guest guest
Sat Nam, My appreciation for your reply to my beginner tremors. To answer your questions: I was about 45 minutes into a 60 minute video tape when my body decided "that's enough." I was well into an energizing and strength building. I do not know the names of the specific exercises. I do remember that the arms were held high in the air for a long time and through several different exercises. This alone can accelerate the heart rate. But I didn't feel that my heart rate was especially high. Even through the tremors, the heart was beating normal. I hesitate to mention the name of the video. I do not want to discredit what may be a perfectly good program just because it had an effect on me. I do not think it is one offered by your organization (I have since ordered two from you - perhaps a safer choice for me). Young? I am 41 years young. However, as vital and in shape as an athletic twenty year old. I have a very physically active lifestyle. So, I find it perplexing that a one hour video would have such an effect. I don't think it was the physical challenge so much as a strange energy flow. I feel quite alright now. I'll wait a day or so and keep it slow. Thank you, Heidi
Guest guest
Dear Heidi, I had a psychic friend check you out and she said there is a structural blockage and to see a chiropractor. Added to mine and Seva Simrams comments, I hope you will be feeling better soon. Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur

I have only experimented with a few positions, stretches and quiet times of meditation. Yesterday I decided to give this a real start. I was working along with a video tape class for the first time. Basically, I just wanted to see if I could do the work and hang in there. > About midway through, I was overtaken with uncontrollable, entire body tremors and sweating. All I could do was to slump into a semi easy pose and fold my hands into a prayer until this subsided. It took awhile. I tried to rejoin the video class, but moving very slowly and cautiously. > Did I awaken the Kundalini energy? Did I just overdo it? This caused a bad headache. I am very concerned about this because I do not get headaches. Really. I have only had three in my life and that was before the onset of flu. I am very active and blessed with wonderful health. However, today I took an aspirin because the head pain was still there. I also slept late and took a two hour nap. I'm still dragging (of course it could be the aspirin). > I am confused. I usually fit many hours of activity into a day. I am asking myself...should I leave well enough alone? Why practice something that will cause headaches and tiredness? I have been told that I have a tremendous amount of energy. I would like to utilize my gifts to reach full potential but I don't want to mess myself up either. Many of the yoga and meditation topics I have read about come very naturally to me. Many of the yoga activities I remember doing instinctively as a child. This comes very easily to me. I don't mind working through a rough beginning to attain higher goals. However, I have great respect for this and do not want to toy with such energy. > I would appreciate your thoughts. > Thank you, > Heidi Dear Heidi, indeed, you can deal with energys in Yoga that are different from what you experience during an aerobic class in the gym. As you experienced this has nothing to do with the level of physical fitness how you feel during and after a Yoga class. For example does Yoga releases - like a deep-tissue-massage for example - a lot of body-toxins that are encapsuled in the bodytissues. If you don't drink enough water before, while and after the Kundalini Yoga session these toxins can't be washed out of your body - a result can be headaches. Another reason can indeed be that you have overdone it. Be gentle with yourself if you feel as if it is too much. Don't think "I have to make this exercise throughout the whole time" - it is not sports, it is much more. Your limits are the measure. Often we have a certain level of tension in our body, we are used to it, used to work all day, be energetic all the time, etc... . Yoga cracks up these tensions, relaxation can happen - but the whole system is affected and not used to it and wants to fight this unusual new status. Headaches are also a signal for tension. Yoga is a process. So, don't give up - but listen to your bodys signals. Be gentle with yourself and relax. There is no "must". And there is no need for a "rough beginning". You may used to rough beginnings - but my tip is that you try for yourself to make this a joyfull and gentle and easy beginning. :-) Sat Nam - Hari Har Singh
Guest guest
I assumed you tuned in....... Kundalini is truly a yoga of transformation. It works you from the Soul level outward. If any aspect of you is misaligned with your "Soul Self" the Kundalini will "slap" you (sometimes gently and sometimes not) until you get it. At the age of 20 I had a rather unpleasant experience with Kundalini but I understood that what the Yoga was showing was just really a condensed version of what was already going on in my life that I was in denial of. It showed really dramatically! and I responded in a big way. I got into Bioenergetic-Gestalt Therapy and did the emotional work (unblocking my heart) that I had avoided all my life. The emotional aspect is very big. Allow it and your body to speak. Looking back, I know that KY not only changed my life but I believe saved my life. I do think the only alternative was to have a heart attack teach me about my misalignment. That was 24 years ago. "By definition, a yogi is one who leans on the infinite for their support. For the Kundalini yogi a main aspect of this infinite is the legacy of teachings left by the living examples of the Gurus and saints and sages throughout time. They are the vehicles through which we bow and teach and always acknowledge. Kundalini Yoga when practiced and taught properly has a certain depth, completeness and timelessness. Often people want to try and pigeon hole it and say it is like something that they already are familiar with, but that is incorrect. Kundalini is the force of the Soul. It cannot be explained simply. Its power comes from its completeness and to explain it by referring to it by just one of its facets is a mistake. Of course it works with the prana of the breath, body and mind but it also taps into the “Z-energy, the deep kundalini energy that cuts across space and time through the doorway of timelessness”.
