Guest guest
There is a small debate on this subject. Some say that taking water during a practice "disrupts" the energy flow, however if you are doing a really sweaty vigorous set you may have to "obey your thirst". I do Bikram Yoga (studio is up to 109 degrees) on the side and I do whatever I have to, to keep from passing out. Pour water on my wrists and face, drink it, etc. But that's Bikram. Generally I'll drink a liter of water 20 minutes before my KY set. That allows it to settle through and not be a hindrance. Many years ago Yogiji instructed the La Jethadar to not allow food nor beverage to touch his lips until he had done all five Banis (prayers) and a full Sadhana. I can only figure that he needed to rest primarily on the sweetness of the Name for his sustenance before going for the grosser sustenance Dharam Gowri S Rajaram wrote: > Sat Nam > > During the course of my KY practice, I do get very thirsty at times. Guest guest
Sat Nam Thank you all for your guidance in this matter. I practice a 2.5 hour routine and it is extremely physical. Prespiration is extremely high in my case and I am glad to hear that I can drink water..Phew that feels good already.. Guest guest
Dear Gowri, To integrate the two points of view, pay attention to the quantity of water. There is a fine, yet real line between not having enough water to perform the exercises and integrate the energy and having so much water that it dissipates the heat that you are generating in your spine and stops the movement of energy. You will know. Trust your intuition and your body. SAt Nam, Gururattan Kaur
