Guest guest
Gosh! This really works. Add about 2 Tbs of lemon juice to a 10 oz cup of hot water and drink with a straw* just before you go to bed. It flushes the liver and gall bladder which is what really takes it on the nose with our rich western diets. It's been said that it also shrinks the stomach. Good to do also before a meal but allow 10 - 20 time before you eat. If you're out have the waiter hook you up. You will probably feel so light in the morning that you wont "need" your caffeine fix. Strangely enough, doing a coffee enema has a very similar effect on the liver as drinking hot lemon water. (I could do the humor but I will resist) Dharam Singh [image] *Using a straw helps keep the lemon off your tooth enamel. Always rinse well or brush afterwards. Guest guest
Thank you for this advice. I tend to stay up late reading email and surfing the net before going to bed. I certainly hope this will help me particularly with shrinking my stomach. Sat Nam
Guest guest
Hi Myra, are we talking about fresh lemon, or will concentrate do? Fresh lemon is not always available in my house. Namaste, Gloria Actually I have hot water with lemon every morning when I wake up. It makes me feel so good and cleans out all the toxins from the day before. An added benefit for those of us looking to lose weight is that it dampens that morning hunger. It is wonderful. Namaste, Myra [
Guest guest
Hello, I was wondering what the right concentration of lemon to water is. This sounds like a good way to start the morning. Thank you for your help John -
Guest guest
I've had it both ways. The best is fresh lemon, preferably organic so it has no toxins of its own. It is always better to use fresh foods, but lemon juice definitely does the job as well. Namaste, Myra

Guest guest
Welcome to the group, Gilly! > Excuse me but I've just joined this group. Can someone tell me what the > lemon juice thing is about? The "lemon juice thing" is about the cleansing benefits of drinking lemon juice (with water) before going to sleep. Many people have listed the benefits they have noticed: more energy in the morning, less hunger, feeling healthier. While I like lemons very much and I know they have many benefits, to my knowledge lemons do not however help with meditation, and I have been told for that purpose not to drink lemon juice more than twice a week. So if you are practicing meditation every day you may want to check how much lemon juice you get. However for other purposes lemons are wonderful (except if you have stomach ulcers and the like in which case you should avoid them especially on an empty stomach). Many blessings, Satsang Kaur
Guest guest
Please give more info. A source or a reference would be helpful . I am a work in progress. I am still trying to figure many things out. Also, it's interesting that you note "lemons do not however help with meditation" only. I wonder why that would be? Guest guest
Sat Nam Dharam Singh, > Please give more info. A source or a reference would be helpful . The only written resource I have around right now that mentions lemons is Satsang With Baba vol.2 (1976) pp120-121. It says this in response to a seeker's question on foods that aid or detract from meditation: "Lemon is not that good. It should be used only rarely. It may be used once or twice a week, particularly in the hot season, and then, too, one shouldn't take more than half a piece. You can squeeze the juice of a piece into water and take that. Milk, however, is very essential. [...] Many of you must have had this experience: that after you have had a very deep meditation, you get sour eructations. If you were to take lemon on top of that, who would call you wise?" I have also received the same kind of advice from my meditation teacher and from other sources, and from my experience it seems to be true. This may be different for other people. > I am a work in progress. I am still trying to figure many things out. That is why we are all here... My teacher used to say that if you think there is still place for improvement in yourself, then you are doing very well. > Also, it's interesting that you note "lemons do not however help with meditation" only. I wonder why that would be? Lemons are good for everything that has been mentioned on this list so far. However the energy that meditation creates or needs doesn't seem to get along with lemons that well ; )! There is a particular style of diet that is recommended for meditation (or at least has been recommended to me from a few sources) that is not the same as is usually recommended for physical yoga. A meditation diet is vegetarian but includes sufficient amounts of dairy, sugar, and unsaturated oils (such as can be find in nuts - especially almonds and cashew nuts). Lemons, garlic, and onions shouldn't be had every day, but once or twice a week. They are however very good if you are doing more physical yoga than meditation, so it seems to really depend on the style of yoga you are practicing. Hope this helps! Many blessings, Satsang Kaur
Guest guest
Sat Nam, My opinion -- A meditation diet is vegetarian but includes sufficient amounts of dairy (read calcium containing foods for relaxation of nervous system, not necessarily cow's milk) , sugar ( read earth foods including fruit and millet (yes millet sustitutes for sweets! Eating millet is how I cured my sugar addtion) No refined sugar please which is addictive and depletes the body of needed nutrients. Because refined sugar has the basic nutrients taken out, the body retrieves the missing nutrients from the rest of the body to digest refined sugar.
