Guest guest
I'm finding it difficult to do as much meditation as I would like in the morning due to the yoga I do as well. Hence, I would like to do some additonal meditations in the afternoon or evening. Is afternoon preferable to evening or vice-versa? If one also does some aerobics in the afternoon and/or evening, should meditation precede or come after the aerobics session? Does this also apply to breathwalking? And finally, should one always precede meditations with some yoga stretches or routines. Sorry about asking so many questions at one time, but they all cluster around one topic. As always, thanks. Your answers to my previous questions have been extremely welcomed and I give warm regards. Joe
Guest guest
Sat Nam Joe, > I'm finding it difficult to do as much meditation as I would like in the morning due to the yoga I do as well. Hence, I would like to do some additonal meditations in the afternoon or evening. Is afternoon preferable to evening or vice-versa? Traditionally the best times for meditation in addition to the hours before sunrise are the twilight hours and around midnight. The twilight hours are good because the energies around you are then in balance, especially the sun and moon energy which correspond to the pingala and ida nadis (energy channels) in the subtle body, and when these two are in balance your energy is directed to the sushumna (the central energy channel which is the pathway of Kundalini). So it is easier to meditate at this time. However, whenever you can meditate is a good time to meditate. I usually go for the midnight hours. > If one also does some aerobics in the afternoon and/or evening, should meditation precede or come after the aerobics session? After would be better. > Does this also apply to breathwalking? Whichever way is fine, but you will probably find it is easier to get into meditation even after a short walk - breathwalk would be even more helpful. > And finally, should one always precede meditations with some yoga stretches or routines. This is not necessary, although it is recommended that you end a yoga session with a meditation. Hope this helps. When you meditate at midnight, do you also meditate at 4:00 a.m? So do you sleep before your midnight meditation and after your 4 a.m. meditation or does KY give you enough energy to forego sleep? Lately, I've been more tired than usually and have been trying to get more sleep or am I just being lazy and should I be doing more KY? I have been playing the CD, 'RA MA DA SA SA SAY SO HUNG,' as often as possible since the report went out that Yogi Bhajan had health concerns. It is beautiful and it is so true that the walls echo it's chant. Anymore I have a hard time telling whether the CD is playing or if it's the echo and I hear it throughout my home, even though I play it ever so low. I usually meditate from 11 to 12pm or so, and wake up around 4:30 for KY and a morning chant. > So do you sleep before your > midnight meditation and after your 4 a.m. meditation or does KY give you > enough energy to forego sleep? I find I am doing fine with about 4 hours of sleep, and actually the more I meditate the less need I have for sleep - a happy effect for people whose workday is some 14 hours long! But this can be different from person to person. > Lately, I've been more tired than usually and > have been trying to get more sleep or am I just being lazy and should I be > doing more KY? KY will certainly give you more energy. Try and see! Many blessings, Satsang Kaur
Guest guest
Dear Diane, Meditation at sunset is highly recommended. It is easier for those who need to sleep at midnight. I personally need to meditate in the late afternoon before I eat dinner. This has been my routine for decades. I started having an evening life when I did hatha yoga before dinner. I was amazed how much better I felt in the evening and then I didn't eat to try to revitalize me. Lately, I've been more tired than usually and > have been trying to get more sleep or am I just being lazy and should I be doing more KY? In this case, get more sleep. The best sleep is before 10pm. Then it is more feasible to get up early. The priority time to do yoga and meditate is 2 1/2 hours before the sun rise. Or atleast try to make it sometime before the sunrise. The body needs to reorient at sunrise and sunset. > I have been playing the CD, 'RA MA DA SA SA SAY SO HUNG,' > is beautiful and it is so true that the walls echo it's chant. Guest guest
Dear Joe, If one also does some aerobics in the afternoon and/or evening, should meditation precede or come after the aerobics session? I think after because your body is ready to meditate and needs to balance an relax. But depends on what works best for you. See what gives you the deepest meditation.
