Golden Milk is a drink, which is a great help for stiff joints, and is a source

of lubrication for the system. This is the recipe used by

practitioners of yoga who have creaking joints, lots of cracking, and pain in

the knees and back from sitting in a cross-legged position. It is

also really great for those who simply have a need for a deep, healing sleep.

Your sleep may be so rejuvenating that your voice may be deeper and

more resonant in the morning. It is prepared in two parts:

(1) Prepare a golden yellow turmeric paste by taking a 1/4 cup of turmeric

powder to 1/2 cup of pure water and simmer for 8 minutes. It will form

a thick paste. There is an important reaction that takes place in the 8 minutes.

This paste will be used for the next 40 days, so store it in a

jar in the refrigerator. Buy the powder very inexpensively at an Indian grocery.

(2) After the paste is made, once daily for 40 days, for each cup of Golden

Milk you want, blend together

1 cup of raw milk (preferably non homogenized or pasteurized)

1 teaspoon of almond oil, sesame or any vegetable oil,

1/4 teaspoon of the turmeric paste as prepared above

and honey to taste.

While stirring on a low heat, bring the milk just to the boiling point. The

mixture may (optional) be then blended in an electric blender to

make a beautiful foamy drink. Serve now with a little cinnamon or nutmeg

sprinkled on the top.

Dear Samantha,

> Can any other milk be used such as rice, soy or oat?

Yes. Remember the two yogi tea lines at Solstice? Soy and dairy? :+) Also

goat's milk which is much easier to digest than cow's milk. Some people can

drink cow's milk and some can't. I think it is genetic or cultural or

something. The Indians can. Most American's can't without building up

mucus in the body. I used to eat cow milk yogart before I went to bed.

Great for sleep. But terrible for getting up. It was so painful to get up

early and be so sleepy. I quit all dairy and now I am alive when I wake up.

Goat's milk and yogurt are fine for me. Everyone is different. This is not

an intellectual debate or a promotional add. You will have to experience

what works for you.

Dear Gururattan K

Sat Nam. Thank you for your answer and dah I was working in the kitchen.

How could I forget about the soy milk. Just so you know, oat milk is great.

It is a good way to get a soluable fiber in your body.

Haven't tried goat milk yet.

Peace and blessings to you.

Dear Samantha,

BTW, for those who went to Solstice, yesterday was the 40th day after

Solstice. For everyone, 4o days after White Tantric yoga, which we did at

Solstice in New Mexico, the effects kick in. I am feeling more energized

and positive.

oat milk is great.

> It is a good way to get a soluable fiber in your body.

Yes, thanks for adding oat milk to the list. It makes me feel very balanced

and grounded, more so than rice milk. There is also almond milk.

> Haven't tried goat milk yet.

Fresh from the goats is best. It is a bit goaty, but with enough other

ingredients it is fine.

And to you and everyone else too!

Dear Gururattan,

It's hard to believe 40 days have gone by. This afternoon I did feel more

positive. Since I came back, I cannot not do Sadhana and cold showers.

Guess that's an effect as well.

Blessings,

Samantha
