Guest guest
Sat Nam Dear List, I have a question about meditations that entail focusing on the nose. Focusing on the nose is very diffucult for me I've spent years focusing the eyes at the brow point during meditation. They just naturally go there within a couple of minutes. A KY intstructor I had several years ago said it was alright to focus on the brow point if it was too distracting to focus on the tip of the nose. How exceptable is this variation, is there a generic answer or is it somehow related to the particular meditation or kriya , or both? Perhaps under no circumstances should this be done and th eopnly viable ultternative is to focus on the chin? I just want top say how great this list is. I remember several years ago when it almost folded, I'm very glad that it didn't! Kundalini yoga really has helped my sadhana tremendously, I shutter at the thought of where my daily practice would be without it. Any information on my question, as always will be deeply appreciated. Bhakti and Peace LarryGet more from the Web. Focusing on the tip of the nose, causing your eyes to cross slightly, puts pressure on the optic nerves. The optic nerves happen to cross exactly at the third eye point, so it is this point that is actually stimulated. So you are getting the same result as you are getting by focusing at the third eye directly. The reason (I think) why focusing at the tip of the nose is recommended is that by putting pressure on the optic nerve crossing point you are automatically focusing on the third eye point, while for many people focusing on the third eye directly is harder to do (some people will concentrate on a different point thinking it is the third eye point). If you are used to focusing at the third eye then you can of course do so. We don't meditate to stimulate our noses after all ; )! It is good though to follow meditation directions if possible, since they are not there without a reason. Many blessings, Satsang Kaur PS: Yes it is a wonderful list, and everyone is making it so... Everyone's contributions, whether they be questions or answers, are great, and thank you all. (Come to think of which - where is Sadhant? I miss your wise posts.) Guest guest
Sat Nam Eveyone I was under the impression that focusing on the nose helped to quiet the mind and help one go deeper within. samantha - "Satsang Kaur" <satsang <Kundaliniyoga> Thursday, August 02, 2001 9:49 AM Re: Focusing on the Nose > Sat Nam Larry, > > > I have a question about meditations that entail focusing on the nose. > Focusing on the nose is very diffucult for me I've spent years focusing the > eyes at the brow point during meditation.
