Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I don't see too much info on this but I am wondering how important is it to abstain from sex for the kundalini to rise. Or will it rise anyhow if you are doing KY daily? Should sex be limited to a certain length of time and/or to once a week, month or year? I also read somewhere that if you don't climax that it could actually ASSIST in raising the kundalini. Is there a source for explicit info about this? And is masturbation worse or equal to sex with another in terms of dissapating the energies (or any other reasons)? Most of us heard that masturbation was wrong from childhood I think. Maybe it is. If it is I would like to know why. I also heard that having sex can unblock the lower chakras so that could be a good thing, right? Clearly, sexual energy is a powerful force so I would like to know more about using it wisely. Is there anything two people can to together during sex to raise and/or enhance the raising of the kundalini? Also, what does YB say about all of this? What do other readers think/do about it? Often the sexual urge is just so annoying because it demands to be released and stays on your mind until it is. Is it better to try and resist that or just give in and get it over with so that your mind is free to move on to other things? Do you think men have more of a problem with this than women? Maybe some people are challenged more by this than others. I have heard that people with Mars in a fire sign have stronger and more consistant sexual impulses. I do not know if that is true but I do have a friend with Mars in Virgo who says he is not really interested in having sex very often at all. I would like to know how others have/are dealing with this issue. Thanks for your help,
Guest guest
The short answer is sex not celebacy. Your questions are good and the full treatment would require a book. Not a bad idea. KY is one of the few yogic paths that allows sex. Many of the hatha paths require celebacy. > I don't see too much info on this but I am wondering how important > is it to abstain from sex for the kundalini to rise. Or will it rise anyhow if you are doing KY daily? The question is how you use your kundalini energy which is also related to sexual energy. You can actually facilitate the rising of the kundalini during sex if you use rootlock to raise the energy to the higher chakras. Should sex be limited to a certain length of time and/or to once a week, month or year? Yogi Bhajan has said that if we really did sex right and both partners raised their energy, we would be satisfied for several weeks. I also read somewhere that if you don't climax that it could actually ASSIST in raising the kundalini. This is true. The taoist books are good references on this. And is masturbation worse or equal to sex with another in > terms of dissapating the energies (or any other reasons)? The male-female energies do not get balanced. Most of us heard that masturbation was wrong from childhood I think. Maybe it is. If it is I would like to know why. It is not that it is wrong. Lost of semen for a man dissipates energy that takes about 2 days to replace. I also heard that having sex can unblock the lower chakras so that could be a good thing, right? Yes. > > Clearly, sexual energy is a powerful force so I would like to know more about using it wisely. Men need to learn to reduce loss of semen. Depends on the age. Yogi Bhajan does not recommend as do the taoists that men never ejaculate. YB says that this practice can cause problems in the prostrate. Is there anything two people can to > together during sex to raise and/or enhance the raising of the kundalini? Yes. Use rootlock and breathing. Also, what does YB say about all of this? What do other > readers think/do about it? Often the sexual urge is just so annoying > because it demands to be released and stays on your mind until it is. Sat kriya and chair pose are for this. This is why we do KY, to channel or energy upward. Is it better to try and resist that or just give in and get it > over with so that your mind is free to move on to other things? Do KY and overtime your energy will rise. Do you think men have more of a problem with this than women? Men and women work completely differently. Women do not lose energy in orgasm. They relax and expand and get in a better mood. > Maybe some people are challenged more by this than others. I have > heard that people with Mars in a fire sign have stronger and more consistant sexual impulses. I do not know if that is true but I do have a friend with Mars in Virgo who says he is not really interested in having sex very often at all. These generalizations are often true. There are some couples on the list that can offer more information I am sure. Sat Nam,

Guest guest
As a man, and as a former young man, I can relate. What helps a great deal these days are certain exercises for male potency. They are in the marriage manuals, the second volume. Maybe you have access, if not, let me know. Basically, my brother, when our nervous system gets overloaded by our sexual drive and our mind starts runnin' off, we're sunk. What these exercises do is lessen the tensions and tightnesses in our hips, back and chest. and allow an easier flowing of that energy through our system. This is really wild stuff. You can get so completely ripped on this if you can just ride the tiger. Another technique is to simply not scratch the itch. Try simply breathing, not reacting and allowing the "feeling" to become a total body experience. Just feel completely and utterly horny as a "box of rabbits". Enjoy it, let it merge with every point in the cosmos, if you want to go that far. Smile, breath and close your eyes. It's a weakness in the nervous system that doesn't allow us to consider other possibilities rather than the same old, same old. Dharam, P.S. Pulling the pud creates a pressure in the gray matter of the brain. Yogiji teaches that there must be another person there to "absorb" the energy. He goes so far as to say it is better to be with another man than to masturbate. > Dear Gururattan K.Khalsa > Men need to learn to reduce loss of semen. Guest guest
I don't think men realize how painful it is for women - because men are "out there" they can at least touch themselves but a woman's desire is to be penetrated and the anguish when that doesn't happen is more then some women can bear. Guest guest
Sat Nam, My question is why do men seem to have it so much tougher when it comes to sexuality? I haven't read anything about orgasm not being recommended for women aside from general energy raising reasons, which sex can be potentially helpful for. So if a man and woman were together having sex it would be ideal for the woman to have many orgasms (which I read in the marriage manual) and for the man to ejaculate as little as possible. Is that a double standard or what? Guest guest
The kriya I made mention of is also in "Sexuality and Spirituality" by Gururattan Kaur, page 41. It's called Guruka Kriya. The first exercise is the "Silver Bullet." No more "running around the block", or cold showers or "lifting bumpers" (it sort of works). Do that first exercise regularly, as in every morning and evening and whenever you are feeling that itch. It will release tensions in the pelvic bowl. A few months ago the "urge to merge" was so strong that I was just tossing and turning in my bed. In my resolve not to "pull the pud", I tried that "silver bullet" exercise and the experience was nearly orgasmic. I just sort of melted and it was very pleasurable. I think women have it easier because their genitalia is located inside their bodies and that allows for much more integration of these energies. Whereas us guys are really out there on our own. Anatomically and psychologically we really need to be "contained" and we are impotent without the feminine aspect in our life. All in all, sexuality is our path home. It's a gift and our right to "Rightness" in life. Use it well. Guest guest
I have wet dreams more often when I am run down emotionally or have over extended my self, though. I also will have them when I have sublimated my feelings of arousal to the point where I am not even aware of them. That's where my need for release ends up coming out in my dreams. It's a release, no doubt and I have to say it feels good but I'd rather own those feelings in daytime consciousness and have fullfilling sex or at least expressions of it. Maybe I'll move to Jamaica, Puerto Rico or Greece where such expressions are more culturally exceptable, albeit "sexist". Sometimes simply talking about it and having an open-hearted rapport (tears and laughter included) can make all the difference. Ya gotta express yourself. Even if all you say is Wahe Guru. I once was around Yogiji when he was waiting for students to settle in at a course in NYC. There were some very beautiful women there in leotards and whatnot. I was sitting watching it all and watching Yogiji watch it all. Now here I am thinking "you gotta be noticing all this, right?" Well, when he finally spoke, the first words out of his mouth were, and I quote "God makes us all beautiful, but some he takes a little extra time" BAM! That's my teacher! He acknowledged the obvious. Still wrestling with "The Bull"! Guest guest
Regarding conservation of resources and "double standards". If I can transmute the energy I deserve my orgasm. Having a loving experience of the energy where it moves my emotions and circulates throughout my body and being is a rich experience. I need to do that before I lose my seed because with each orgasm a man loses his drive while a woman can actually get more and more arroused until she actually just needs to sleep. No double standard. Man loses nutrients but if he does it right he gets a little of her "Yin Essence"( and she gets some of his "Yang Essence"). He (I) feels full of life and ready to take on life. Man needs that exchange. Dharam littlebird108 wrote: > Sat Nam, > > My question is why do men seem to have it so much tougher when it comes to > sexuality? Is that a double standard or what? You are going to have to talk to God about that. We are made completely different. The law of polarities strikes again. We can achieve union though if we both master our own essence and balance masculine and feminine energies within ourselves. Guest guest
Thanks for the insight They used to call that "Hysteria". (roots similar to Hysterectomy) A woman would be sent to the doctor to cure her. The doctor would used a vibrator of some sort to make things "right". I know nothing more about this practice but am very curious. Guest guest
Dear All, Dharam Singh, thanks for sharing your experience with the "silver bullet" in the Guraka Kriya page 41 in Sexuality and Sprituality. What is your experience with chair or table pose that is on page 28 first exercise? This works for both men and women to raise the sexual energy. I would also suggest doing this exercise 2-3 times a day on a regular basis. ( not just when sexuality energy is out of balance) This is part of a set called "Raise Kundalini in Quick Order" which is a very powerful set. When both men and women can open all their chakras it is possible to have very satisfying orgasmic experiences in the whole spine during sex, which precludes the need for orgasim in a man and deepens them for women. I find that the Taoist books explanations are good. There is a good book by in think Steven Chen called the Tao of Sexuality which is bound in white leather. (call a local new age bookstore) The practice of KY actually makes it possible to do that the taoist say to do. The taoists generally suggest moving the energy through mental concentration and the root lock. KY physically shifts the energy. We have assembled the best sets for this in our book "Sexuality and Spirituality" available at www.yogatech.com. There are also partner exercises to balance male-female energies. For anyone wanting to work with their sexuality energy, start doing the sets and meditations in this book there are over 100 to choose from) and watch your life transform. And then share with all of us. Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur
Guest guest
Dear Dharam Singh and all, If I can transmute the energy I deserve my orgasm. Having a loving experience of the energy where it moves my emotions and circulates throughout my body and being is a rich experience. I need to do that before I lose my seed because with each orgasm a man loses his drive The ojas is the sexual energy that goes up the spine, but the semem doesn't go up the spine. If a man raises his energy and circulates it as you explained and then ejaculates, does he lose less energy? I have never read an answer to this one. Any men have any insights based on experience? Guest guest
Sat Nam, What helps a great deal these days are certain exercises for male potency. They are in the marriage > manuals, the second volume. Most of these are also in "Sexuality and Spirituality" Sat Nam, Gururattan Kaur
Guest guest
Theoretically this is supposed to be the case. YB once stated this was so also, and was the only way to avoid losing energy during ejaculation. However, I tried a number of Bhuddist and Taoist and Tantric methods of doing this and although I was able to create a lot of bliss recirculating the energy, I still felt an energy drain from ejaculation. Si I,m wondering if it really is possible. Seva Simran Gururattan K.Khalsa wrote: > Dear Dharam Singh and all, > > If I can transmute the energy I deserve my orgasm. Guest guest
Yes, this is possible. I have found that you have to play with the energy a lot to master this technique but it is possible for a man to have an orgasm without ejaculation and without causing inflammation, which is unhealthy. Guest guest
Sex can be used to "solve loneliness". It does make the world go round. In a relationship that is on shaky ground it can give a couple reason to come together and maybe try to work things out (God put that many nerves and neurons in one anatomical location for a reason). To try to answer the question of whether or not a man gains energy I will make a comparison. A study was done of College basketball players. They found that the testosterone level of the winners actually went up after the game while that of the losers went down. They were pumped and felt good about themselves. Feeling capable is important for the male. Yogiji teaches that sex and success are the same. "It's the same psychology" he says. "Without finance, there is no romance". If there is a real sharing and intimacy around the sexual experience, the pranic body just opens up. I think that even though a man loses his seed, the energy that is moved and integrated, Ojas, gives him a more rich and subtle experience of himself. This little victory will make him a more confident, intuitive basketball player. It might be true that he may not have as much brute strength but he'll have his wits, and much more, about him. I hope that helps. Sat Nam, Dharam "Gururattan K.Khalsa" wrote: > Dear Dharam Singh and all, > > If I can transmute the energy I deserve my orgasm. Guest guest
Thanks for the recommendation. You're right, you really want to maintain a practice so that you never really feel pressed up against a wall by the energy. I will take a look at "Raise Kundalini in Quick Order". Maybe even lead it in Sadhana, 4 hours from now. I am pretty convinced that we have all we need right under this umbrella called Kundalini Yoga. I did go looking and I couldn't find "Tao of Sexuality" at Amazon. Guest guest
I don't mean to be picky, but on the subject of hysteria - just a matter of curiosity - hysterectomies used to be common practice in dealing with hysteria, which was considered a female disease since antiquity. In the 1890's Freud became the first western doctor to assert that hysteria could occur also in men, debunking the old conceptions of the disease. He related it primarily to male impotence, and only secondarily to the unsatisfied state of these mens' wives. The ultimate cause of hysteria, so Freud discovered, was memory loss. Which sounds kind of hokey, but once again, the amnesias he lifted (with a resultant lifting of hysterical symptoms, which ranged from hallucinations to nighttime emissions to vomiting attacks and bulemia) usually related to sexual issues not adequately processed during childhood. This is sort of a specialty of mine, dont mean to go completely off on a tangent.
