Guest guest
Recently I was sitting in a hospital emergency room for 8 hours. I was amazed by how many people were being admitted as the result of violence they, or someone else, had chosen to commit. When I returned home I watched a movie, The Mexican. In that movie, Julie Roberts - the girl next door, and Brad Pitt - the boy next door, both killed somebody. It made me think, what is this cult of violence and killing? Murder, or being party to a murder (except in extraordinary circumstances), is a major karmic downfall. How different the world would be if violence and killing was simply not an option. I believe it is the technology of kundalini yoga and naam simran that can go a long way to ultimately bringing this about. If much of male violence is sexual energy run amok, this lower chakra energy can be channeled through yoga practice. If much of female violence is abuse of the word, the word can come from the heart when the fourth and fifth chakras have been opened. If indeed violence is an impulse, it can be checked by naam simran. One's soul, forever in union with God, will rarely allow such an impulse to be acted upon. Love and wisdom is a force so much greater than anger and sexual domination and perversion. When people finally realize this, what a world it can be? In my mind this is the blessing and destiny of kundalini yoga and meditation in North America. Seva Simran
