Guest guest
Sat Nam, I was wondering how one aplies these directions in a regular class. In my experience about 70% of the yoga students are female, so you´re bound to have woman in their period about every time, right? Do you give alternatives for every excercise that's to be avoided? Or do you teach them the first time they attend? My local teacher never gives it much attention, and I've never heard any complaints. AFAIK the only thing that happens is an increase of the flow of blood (I imaginge that being uncomfortable but not unbearable). Thanks, Henno
Guest guest
My teacher(s) will remind women to do "long deep breathing" instead of "breath of fire" during the first days of their cycle. Any student wanting more information could ask the teacher after class. As with inverted postures... I dont recall specific instructions during class. Inverted postures, like KY triangle, are not good for those with uncontrolled high blood pressure- but my recollection of classes it is often not mentioned. ------------------- NetZero Platinum Sign Up Today - Only $9.95 per month! netzero.net/s/signup?r=platinum&refcd=PT97

Give general instructions everytime there are new students -- to avoid heavy navel excercises and too much breath of fire. Tell them to adapt to what feels comfortable to them. This is a good change to listen to their own bodies and do what works for them. All the needs are different so letting people do what works for them seems to be the best strategy and the least distracting for the class.
