Guest guest
hi everybody, I am melanie.39yrs.I live near orlando and am going to school to become an acupuncturist. Instead of Qigong, I have decided to use Kundalini yoga as a path to harmonise the qi force withing my bodies and my enviroment while hoping to maintain a supple youthfulness of flex ability, peace and enlightenment on the path to my God. I have chosen kundalini yoga because as at age 7-18 I practiced hatha yoga and enjoyed it greatly. having learned of the kundalini method, I jump for the chance to improve all areas in life, to rid self of aches in joints and savouring some to help others so as to be a more affective acupuncturist. I had allready purchased a book to begin my kundalini yoga experience prior learning of this group, so was wondering if anyone had heard of this book and what they thought of it for a beginner. (Kundalini Yoga for body mind and beyond by Ravi Singh). any comments would be greatly appreciated, thank so much, melanie ___________ For the most comprehensive Traditional Healthcare information on the Web, visit http://www.acupuncture.com today! Guest guest
Hi Melanie, Welcome to the list. I also recieved my introduction to KY through Ravi Singh, although it was a video (Fat Free Yoga). His instruction gave me feelings that I had never felt in any previous martial arts training, so I too chose the path of Kundalini Yoga. Although I am not familiar with the book you mentioned, I am sure that Ravi has infused it with a wonderful spirit that will help you begin your journey. There are many good people on this list that can help you also. Did you give up your Chi Gong studies all together? I study Karate and Yang Tai Chi and feel that they enhance my yoga. Guest guest
Hi Melanie, Welcome Do you know about the community in Altamonte Springs? Also, are you familiar with the practice of Sat Nam Rasayan? It's the application, you might say, of the Kundalini space. Residing in pure awareness (Shushmana), a deep allowing so that healing can just happen without your "doing" anything. More later, Dharam Singh (MA) melanie myers wrote: > hi everybody, > I am melanie.39yrs.I live near orlando and am going to school to become an acupuncturist. > Instead of Qigong, I have decided to use Kundalini yoga as a path to harmonise the > qi force withing my bodies and my enviroment while hoping to maintain a supple youthfulness > of flex ability, peace and enlightenment on the path to my God. Guest guest
Kundalini is not an energy, so to speak. It's a state of being. It's derived from a balance of the prana energy and apana energy but it is beyond energy. Sat Nam Rasayan is the practice applying that state of being as a tool. It is very deep. You are not "doing" anything. You are not healing anyone. You are simply creating a quality of space where release can happen and things can resolve and reintegrate. As far as yoga in Altamonte Springs, just look up the Khalsa in the local directory. You must go there at least once. The ashram is so elegant! We also have our Winter Solstice in Lake Wales. Big Tantric (white) yoga right up to Christmas Eve. You are in the place...plus you have Mickey! I hear winterpark and altamonte springs area has a wonderful enlightened arae. this is definately a place where all the new age groups, self help classes, and healthfood stores are located. not sure of any Kundalini clases in the area at the present. especialy the south area, do you? what community are you talking about? I am definately curious. I haven't heard of Sat Nam Rasayan, but will check him out for sure. thank for the link. > peace, > melanie > > On Tue, 04 September 2001, Dharam Singh wrote: > > > Re: New to the Group! > > References: <20010903015335.2037.cpmta > > Kundaliniyoga > > Delivered-acupuncture.com%meljomyerrs > > Dharam Singh <dharam > > X-Accept-Language: en > > Cc: meljomyerrs > > Received: (cpmta 8600 invoked from network); 4 Sep 2001 22:34:41 -0700 > > Received: from chmls20.mediaone.net (24.147.1.156) > > by smtp.c011.snv.cp.net (209.228.34.206) with SMTP; 4 Sep 2001 22:34:41 -0700 > > Received: from sahej.com (h00104c12bafe.ne.mediaone.net [66.31.197.119]) > > by chmls20.mediaone.net (8.11.1/8.11.1) with ESMTP id f855Ytx22006; > > Wed, 5 Sep 2001 01:34:55 -0400 (EDT) > > Return-Path: <dharam > > Content-Type: multipart/alternative; > > boundary="------------03B28985280EEAAB48766E1C" > > Mime-Version: 1.0 > > X-Received: 5 Sep 2001 05:34:41 GMT > > Wed, 05 Sep 2001 01:34:45 -0400 > > X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.78 [en] (Win98; U) > > Message-Id: <3B95B975.40F05F67 > > > > <!doctype html public "-//w3c//dtd html 4.0 transitional//en"> > > <html> > > ___________ > For the most comprehensive Traditional Healthcare information > on the Web, visit http://www.acupuncture.com today! Guest guest
Hi Malcom, these disciplines we seek are all just different personalities of the same great life force we all come back to given time. I never really practiced Qi gong as an art and don't really know that much in detail about it on an outer level but inside my spirit and heart soar when mention of 'the great one light' that it is so familiar with no matter what name it is given here on earth. I will be looking into it eventually. there is a chance that by the time I graduate my school will offer a class in it.I am glad you are utilizing what you feel is good for you and not limiting yourself to only one of these disciplines. I plan to also learn tai chi but not sure what form yet. one thing at a time depending upon what the universe tosses towards me first. It is time I give Ravi a try. thanks for the nice email. melanie On Mon, 03 September 2001, mrwagner wrote: > Hi Melanie, > > Welcome to the list. Guest guest
Hi Dharam, I'll forgo mickey but am all up for going to visit an ashram. thanks for the info. I'm not sure if I share your view on kundalini though. Are you talking about a state of being as in meditation? I know this probably sounds dumb to you, but please keep in mind I am new to this form of discipline; I believe it is a state of 'Peace' which you talk of that when one finds it they no longer have to search as the universe is open to them. I believe that it is the stiring up of the kundalini fire(mother) up the base of the spine through pure or right desire, love, and effort that brings it up to meet with the father (higher self) and one attains peace in the process and hopefully perminant enlightenment. >>You are simply creating a quality of space where release can happen and things can resolve and reintegrate. This sounds really nice though and I will check it out. thankyou, melanie On Wed, 05 September 2001, Dharam Singh wrote: > Kundalini is not an energy, so to speak. It's a state of being.
